Position Description : The principal purpose of the position is to provide technical assistance and consultation to state and local partners regarding best practices and evidence based strategies for promoting physical activity, healthy nutrition, and reducing/preventing obesity. This position must establish partnerships with both internal and external groups to establish the type of assistance and level of intervention needed. This position must stay current on research to competently advise partners on methods for enhancing obesity prevention initiatives in various populations. Due to many types of needs throughout the state requiring specialized expertise this position is essential to fulfilling the needs of statewide and community partners. There is a high level of expertise required to adequately provide consultation and assistance which requires this position to attend trainings and perform research to ensure that national standards are met. This position is essential to the mission of the Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion because obesity is a pressing public health issue that remains a top priority for the state. Duties include, but are not limited to: Establish partnerships with outside agencies throughout the state with missions which contribute to obesity prevention. Provide consultation on the implementation of obesity programming in specific settings. Provide consultation on policy implementation in various settings. Serve on and facilitate multi-disciplinary teams for affecting the obesity prevention program activities, data collection, analysis and processes to affect change. Provide training opportunities to different organizations throughout the state. Develop informational resource materials, such as guidebooks, playbooks, micro learning videos, and other new and innovative methods to provide information to partners across the state. Prepare and deliver public presentations around physical activity, nutrition, and obesity prevention for selected audiences. Provide expertise around community engagement and capacity building in communities across the state. Coordinate with agency consultants and groups across the state to provide strategies to address health disparities related to obesity across the state. Provide project management skills and abilities to effectively manage multiple obesity-related projects at various levels of the social ecological model. Education and Experience Bachelor Degree in public health, community health, nutrition sciences, education, physical education, nursing or public administration or other related field, and at least two years demonstrated experience in health policy/systems/environments work, coordinating technical assistance, training, consultation, and/or community engagement. Demonstrated experience in physical activity, nutrition, and/or obesity best practices. Preferred Qualifications : Master's Degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, Education, Wellness Management, Nutrition, Exercise Science, Public Administration or equivalent and/or demonstrated experience in health policy or related areas. One position is currently open in the Executive Administration Department. This is part of a team of three Management Analysts in this department.
The position will have an emphasis on Yardi, Housing Policy, and procurement. For this position, AHA is particularly interested in applications from candidates with a strong track record in the use of Yardi for housing-related organizations, and a familiarity with housing policy impacting the Housing Choice Voucher program.
The position may also have an emphasis on procurement administration, and will perform a broad array of general analytical work for AHA.
Final decisions about the division of assignments between the existing and newly hired management analyst positions will be determined at the time of hire and as projects/needs arise.

Teaching and advising responsibilities will be conducted at our Turlock and Stockton campuses. The successful candidate will serve as director of the Social Sciences program starting in the second year of the appointment, providing leadership for the multidisciplinary program, including oversight of the implementation plan from the most recent Academic Program Review. Additional responsibilities include student advising, collaboration with community college partners to promote the recruitment of majors, coordination of ongoing program assessment, and oversight of the Social Sciences Steering Committee. Teaching responsibilities emphasize instruction in social sciences methodologies and capstone seminar, comprising two courses per semester during the first two years, three courses per semester thereafter, with at least half dedicated to program delivery in Stockton. Additional workload will include coordination of major advising and oversight of the program, with initial efforts directed to promoting delivery of the Social Sciences major in Stockton. Collaboration with department chair in developing class schedule, hiring and evaluating part-time faculty, and managing the program budget. The successful candidate will also assist local community colleges in developing transfer-ready curriculum to support an AA degree in Social Sciences, serve as program liaison with the California Commission for Teacher Credentialing to support the Social Sciences Preparation Program, and coordinate with our self-support Social Sciences degree completion programs.
