is recruiting for a Supervising Public Health Nurse
who will supervise nursing and other personnel in special county-wide programs.The incumbent in this position will be responsible forensuring excellent nursing and evidence-based practice, while optimizing resources for achieving individual and community health outcomes. The resulting eligiblelist may be used to fill vacancies in other programs as they occur. Family Health Services Section
Family Health Services (FHS) section of DPH specializes in many dynamic public health nursing programs and includes Health Care Program for Children in Foster Care, Rx 4 Kids, Children Screening, Assessment, Referral and Treatment, Black Infant Health, and Maternal Child and Adolescent Health. FHSworks in partnership with public and private agencies to provide nursing case management, care coordination and consultation. California Children Services (CCS)program
The California Children Services (CCS) section of DPH is a statewide program that arranges, directs, and pays for medical care, equipment, and rehabilitation, when these services are authorized for children and young adults under 21 years of age, who have CCS-eligible medical conditions and whose families are unable to pay for all or part of their care. CCS defines eligibility and selects the most qualified professionals to treat the child's CCS eligible condition.

obtain and maintain the required CA Registered Nurse license -and-
the required Public Health Nurse certificate issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing (CA BRN) prior to hire/employment start date. Contingent job offers may be made to applicants who have provided verification that they have applied for their CA Registered Nurselicense -and-
Public Health Nurse certificate with the CA BRN.Minimum Requirements
of the following licensure/certification -and-
possess and maintain all
of the following items:
**Out-of-State Licensed Registered Nurses:
- A valid Registered Nurse license** issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing (CA BRN),
- A valid Public Health Nurse certificate** issued by the CA BRN, -and-
- A validHealthcare Provider level Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate.

possess eighteen (18) months of full-time equivalent experience as a certified Public Health Nurse, -and-
In addition to the experience described above, applicants must
meet one of the following options:
- Option 1:One (1) year of full-time equivalent nursing experience working in a lead or supervisory capacity as a certified Public Health Nurse.
- Option 2: One (1) year of full-time equivalent nursing experience working in a home health or home visiting setting as a licensed Registered Nurse.
The ideal candidatepossesses supervisory and administrative experience;experience with community health and home visitation;excellent knowledge and competency with the scope and standards of public health nursing practice, including both individual and population based assessment, diagnosis, outcomes, planning, assurance and evaluation; expertise with quality assurance and process improvement; strongskills inleading and supervising multidisciplinary staff; competency in serving diverse cultural communities, andexemplarywritten and oral communication skills. A public health nurse with a Master's degreein nursing or administration/business is highly desirable.
