California State University, Los Angeles, invites applications for the above Administrator II position.
The University: California State University, Los Angeles, under the leadership of President, William A. Covino, is one of 23 campuses of the California State University system. Founded in 1947, the University is in the city of Los Angeles, adjacent to the San Gabriel Valley, and has more than 28,000 students who reflect the rich ethnic diversity of the area.

The Position: The Director of the Student Success and Advising (DSSA) for the College of Business and Economics, is a highly motivated person with vision, enthusiasm, collegiality, and leadership qualities who has significant responsibility for developing and implementing student success and advisement initiatives that promote engagement, retention, and timely graduation. Reporting to the Associate Dean, the Director will be responsible for managing the center's budget and staff; hiring, supervising, training and evaluating staff; creating, measuring, and reporting center performance metrics and student service data that is aligned with college and university goals; and for ensuring that advising resources are effectively used to provide comprehensive academic advising and support services for all students in the college. The Director works closely with the Dean of Undergraduate Studies, the Vice Provost for Enrollment Services, and with other DSSA's on campus to plan, coordinate, and implement advising policies, practices and procedures within the college. The Director will develop and lead college based advising programs and services to increase student engagement, retention, and graduation rates. The Director is responsible for ensuring that faculty and staff advisors receive professional ongoing development and training on e-advising tools such as, EAB Campus, Degree Planner, and Schedule Planner and responsible for training faculty and professional advisors. The Director will communicate information about campus-wide advising priorities, initiatives, and changes to advising policies to the Associate Dean, College Advising Council, faculty, advisors and, department chairs. The Director is also responsible for implementing assessment to track and improve the effectiveness of the Advising Center and provide regular updates to the college and central administration. The Director will serve on University committees, participate in campus-wide efforts to facilitate retention and graduation and serve on the college leadership team.

Required Qualifications and Experience: A master's degree from an accredited college or university. The incumbent must have five years of relevant experience in areas of advisement and/or student-success in an institution of higher education, demonstrated managerial skills, excellent verbal, written communication, and team building skills. The incumbent must also have proficiency with Microsoft Office and social media along with demonstrated leadership in addressing diverse problems. The incumbent must have the ability to supervise and motivate staff to work effectively and collaboratively with students, faculty, staff and administrators; manage, analyze and present data; use date to improve programs; and manage multiple priorities and act decisively under stressful situations. Demonstrated interest and ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.

Desired Qualifications: A doctoral degree from an accredited college or university. Three years of management or leadership experience including; familiarity with a range of advisement tools and platforms; a record of development and implementing program assessment strategies, knowledge of CSU policies and procedures, and PeopleSoft applications.

Appointment: The Administrator II appointment will be made under the guidelines for management and supervisory employees of the California State University. All rights and benefits associated with this appointment are governed by the Management Personnel Plan.
