The Security team serves a wide scope of internal and external customers including, but not limited to the traveling public, employees, and stakeholders by conducting inspections of operations and coordinating operational or security activities. The section ensures the airport maintains compliance with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) approved Airport Security Plan, as well as TSA mandated Rules and Regulations . The purpose of this position is to perform as the security regulation subject matter expert in the field during security emergencies and assist with the planning, training, and carrying out of mitigation efforts to reduce the threat level to IAH and enhance the overall airport security posture. This position is proactive in locating and resolving security issues and violations. It conducts routine compliance inspection to ensure the airport is in compliance with Federal, State, and local security regulations. The success of this role is highly dependent on the ability of being actively responsible for the unique aspects of the airport, while supporting their counterparts to ensure that safety and customer service are at the forefront of the passenger experience. WORKING CONDITIONS The position routinely requires lifting of moderately heavy items, such as typewriters or records boxes (up to 40 pounds) and/or very long periods of walking on rough surfaces on a routine basis. There are routine discomforts from exposure to moderate of heat, cold, moisture/wetness and unpleasant air conditions. The position may involve routine exposure to soiled materials and light chemical substances such as cleaning solutions. Requires the ability to make coordinated eye/hand movements within fairly fine tolerance and/or calibration demands; or the ability to make closely coordinated eye/hand movements on a patterned response space within moderate tolerance demands. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Requires a Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Airway Science, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Two years of progressively responsible experience in airport operations, airport security or airport safety are required. Directly related professional experience may substitute for the above education requirement on a year-for-year basis. CLASSIFICATION STANDARDS: Positions allocable to this class receive administrative supervision from a Chief, Helicopter Maintenance and receive technical guidance from Senior Helicopter Mechanics who have responsibility for an aircraft maintenance and repair crew. Incumbents perform journey-level technical maintenance, repairs, and alterations, including airframe, powerplant, propeller, rotor, or appliance, to both reciprocating and turbine-powered aircraft in Sheriff’s air operations. Incumbents must possess working knowledge of the methods of locating and diagnosing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, structural, and other troubles; the ability to maintain and repair engines, airframes, and accessory equipment; and knowledge of operation and preventive maintenance requirements of the aircraft to be maintained. Helicopter Mechanics serve a one year probationary period during which time they receive structured, in-service training in the repair and maintenance of complex, single-engine or multi-engine, turbine-powered aircraft. Successful completion of departmental in-service training programs is a condition of completing the one year probationary period. This class frequently lifts more than 50 pounds and regularly climbs on aircraft and ladders while carrying tools, equipment, and parts. Introduction ABOUT THE CORONER’S BUREAU The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau is located in the Oakland hills which serves a population of 1.6 million people and is currently the 7th most populous county in the state of California. The Coroner’s Bureau is the Regional Mutual Aid Coordinator for California’s Region II (16 counties) whose responsibility includes the coordination of intra- and inter-regional mutual aid in large scale events. The Coroner’s Bureau shares a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility with the Alameda County Crime Laboratory and Alameda County Public Health Department. When fully staffed, the Coroner’s Bureau operates with six full-time Morgue Technicians, three Forensic Pathologists, a Chief Forensic Pathologist, and additional locum tenens Forensic Pathologists. The Coroner’s Bureau also has an in-house board-certified neuropathologist and is staffed with ABMDI-certified Death Investigators. The Coroner’s Bureau has access to forensic anthropology and odontology services and multiple contracted toxicology services. The Coroner’s Bureau receives death notifications and performs investigations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Autopsies are normally performed Monday through Friday, excluding most holidays. Introduction ABOUT THE CORONER’S BUREAU The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau is located in the Oakland hills which serves a population of 1.6 million people and is currently the 7th most populous county in the state of California. The Coroner’s Bureau is the Regional Mutual Aid Coordinator for California’s Region II (16 counties) whose responsibility includes the coordination of intra- and inter-regional mutual aid in large scale events. An employee who is a new enrollment in PERS, is not coming from an agency with PERS reciprocity, or has a break in service greater than 6 months shall be enrolled in the Third Tier PERS benefit formula of 2.7% @ 57. Miscellaneous (Non-Sworn) PERS Plan Formula The City shall provide the 2.5% @ 55 PERS contract option to current miscellaneous employees hired prior to March 19, 2012. An employee who is hired by the City after March 19, 2012, from another Public Employees' Retirement (PERS) agency or agency with PERS reciprocity, or with a break in service of 6 months or less, shall receive the Second Tier PERS benefit formula of 2% @ 55. A returning Claremont City employee that was enrolled in PERS will receive the PERS benefit formula they received while previously employed with the City, irrespective of the break in service. Employee PERS Contribution Safety employees hired prior to March 19, 2012 and hired into the Two Tier of 3% @ 55 retirement plan shall contribute 9% towards their PERS member contributions. Safety employees hired in the Third Tier of 2.7% @ 57, shall contribute 13% or 50% of the total normal cost rate, whichever is greater, towards their PERS member contributions. Miscellaneous employees hired prior to March 19, 2012 shall contribute 8% towards their PERS member contributions. Employees receiving the Second Tier PERS Benefit formula of 2% @ 55 shall contribute 7% towards their PERS member contributions. Employees receiving the Third Tier PERS benefit formula of 2% @ 62 shall contribute 6.5% or 50% of the total normal cost rate, whichever is greater, towards their PERS member contributions. PERS Highest Pension Calculation Compensation Period - The City shall continue to provide the Single Highest One Year Final Compensation Pension calculation benefit to current miscellaneous employees hired prior to March 19, 2012. Employees hired after March 19, 2012 shall receive the Three Year Final Compensation calculation benefit. The City shall provide miscellaneous and safety employees with the following benefits/provisions: Credit for unused sick leave (Government Code Section 20965). 1959 Survivor Benefit (Third Level benefits) DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLAN: Employees have the opportunity to participate in a supplemental retirement savings plan offered through MissionSquare. Through tax-deferred payroll deductions, employees are eligible to deposit funds into their account, up to the maximum allowed by law. Participation in this program: Shelters a portion of your salary from income taxes; Invests in high-performing funds yielding tax-deferred earnings; Provides a superior tool for retirement planning and savings. DEFERRED COMPENSATION RETENTION INCENTIVE PROGRAM: This program was established to provide tenure and savings incentives for management employees. Beginning with the employee's third consecutive year of service, the City will match up to one percent of their base pay, payable into their deferred compensation account. This percentage increases to two percent at the beginning of their fifth year, three percent at the beginning of their sixth year, four percent at the beginning of their eighth year, and five percent at the beginning of their tenth year. SEVERANCE: Employee shall receive 60 days notification in advance of layoff and up to six months severance in the event of involuntary separations. LONG-TERM DISABILITY: The City provides a long-term disability plan. This benefit is in case an employee sustains a non-work-related illness or injury that results in their inability to work for a long period of time. In this event, an employee will receive 66.66% of their base pay after 60 days, and continued payment until they are medically able to return to work, or they reach the age of 65, whichever comes first (maximum of $8,000 per month). TUITION REIMBURSEMENT: Employees may participate in the City's tuition reimbursement program. The amount of reimbursement will be up to $1,500 per fiscal year. Reimbursable items include registration, tuition, textbooks, and parking. CREDIT UNION MEMBERSHIP: Employees are eligible for membership in the F & A Federal Credit Union. F & A offers a wide variety of services, including checking and savings accounts and all types of loans (automobile, vacation, personal, first and second home mortgages, and more!). EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (EAP): The City cares about the emotional and physical well-being of its employees and their families and offers a City paid Employee Assistance Program. AUTO ALLOWANCE: Department Heads and Division Heads who have a personal vehicle at the work site available for use and provide proof of automobile insurance to Personnel are eligible to receive a monthly auto allowance. Department Heads shall receive $450 per month and Division Heads shall receive $350 per month.
