COORDINATOR OF FOOD AND HOUSING SECURITY
Student Services Professional II

Salary Range: $4,304 - $6,120/Monthly
Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 6:00 pm, Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; exempt classification. Temporary appointment expires on or before one year from date of hire. Appointment may be extended, may become permanent.
Essential Functions: Under the supervision of the Director of Student Support, the incumbent collaboratively supports, plans, facilitates, and coordinates programs for student health and wellness, with priority given to basic needs programs. These programs will involve active collaboration with the Assistant Dean of Students, Wellness and Engagement, and other campus partners. The incumbent also assists with grant writing, assessment, and grant management for current and future grants to support student food and housing security efforts. The incumbent will oversee the day-to-day operations of the CalFresh Outreach Center: facilitate and coordinate the training and supervision of CalFresh Outreach Center Student Interns; develop processes and procedures to create efficiency with delivery of CalFresh services; plan and implement marketing, workshops, and programming regarding CalFresh; complete quarterly program activity reporting and intern time logs; and conduct CalFresh Outreach assessment and evaluation efforts. Serve as Cal State LA's Point of Contact (POC) for students regarding Food and Housing Security: meet with and assess needs of students; and collaborate with Housing and Residence Life in implementing emergency housing program. Implement and lead activities and trainings associated with food and housing security: healthy and affordable nutrition options; financial literacy; campus wellness resources; and preventative care. Review policies and procedures related to student health and wellness and provide suggestions; develop a web and social media presence for food and housing security and wellness programs and initiatives; collaborate with student organizations, campus departments, alumni housing, ASI, and athletics to design student planned initiatives to support student health and wellness; research best practices for campuses offering healthy nutrition and wellness resources to students; and lead assessment efforts related to food and housing security. Assist with the intake of student applying for emergency housing resources; co-facilitate and coordinate placement of students into emergency housing; coordinate and assist with the implementation and marketing of the meal sharing program; facilitate the work of the meal-sharing program; and develop effective processes and procedures for student placement and follow-up.
Required Qualifications & Experience: Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in nutritional science, sociology, public health, education, or related field. Two years of full-time professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth. A master's degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience. Must possess: proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel); strong collaboration skills and organizational skills; ability to work with students on a day-to-day basis; and ability to analyze and solve problems. The incumbent must have a willingness to work with ethnically diverse and culturally pluralistic student body and staff and have a demonstrated interest and/or ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Desired Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in kinesiology and nutritional sciences or in a related field. One year of higher education experience. Experience working with a food pantry and/or CalFresh Outreach Center.
