Compensation - Commensurate by qualifications and experience within salary range placement. The salary ranges are established by the CSU Salary Schedule (Class Code = 2920 for 12-month Librarian). The salary range for Temporary Faculty with a Master's degree is $6,190.00 - $7,794.00 per a month when teaching full time (15 WTUs). Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range. Actual monthly salary will be adjusted based on the number of WTUs assigned per an academic term. Required Qualifications: Education : An earned MLIS (or equivalent) from an American Library Association-accredited institution or program recognized by the American Library Association as an international equivalent. Experience : Minimum of two years or more of experience relevant to the library, special collections, and/or archives management. Demonstrated organizational and planning skills with attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both independently and in cooperation with faculty, staff, and students from diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds regardless of age, gender, marital status, religion, sexual orientation or disabilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Experience: Two or more years of paid, professional experience as librarian. Professional experience with collection development in children’s literature. Familiarity with special collections librarianship and/or archives. Experience with original cataloging. Position: CSUN’s University Library is seeking a professionally engaged, innovative, and collaborative librarian and archivist to provide leadership, vision, and direction in the ongoing growth and development of CSUN’s University Archives program. The successful candidate will play a central role in building and stewarding collections documenting the history and transactions of California State University Northridge, and will serve as the Library’s expert in the history of the University. They will provide research assistance and instruction to internal and external constituents in this area, and will promote the visibility and use of the University Archives through teaching, exhibits, programming, and other means. Additionally, the University Archivist will actively work to document the voices and experiences of members of our University community, especially those who have been historically underrepresented, including assisting in collection development and donor relations. As part of their duties, the successful candidate will work to identify records of enduring historical value that should be transferred to the University Archives, including select faculty papers and records of student organizations and other auxiliary units. They will coordinate with campus units to support transfer of University records to the University Archives in a systematic manner. They will maintain and apply current knowledge of University and CSU-wide policies pertaining to University Archives and records management, including policies related to privacy, confidentiality, and compliance with copyright law, working with colleagues in Special Collections & Archives and library faculty and staff as appropriate. The successful candidate will play a central role in building and stewarding collections documenting the history and transactions of California State University Northridge, and will serve as the Library’s expert in the history of the University. They will provide research assistance and instruction to internal and external constituents in this area, and will promote the visibility and use of the University Archives through teaching, exhibits, programming, and other means. Position Details The Research and Instruction Librarian for the College of Science fills a crucial role in the University Library's Research & Instruction Services (RIS) Unit. As a full-time tenure-track library faculty member at the Senior Assistant Librarian rank, the Science Librarian is designated as the University Library’s subject librarian for students, faculty, and staff in the Biological Sciences; Chemistry and Biochemistry; Computer Science; Geological Sciences; Kinesiology and Health Promotion; Mathematics and Statistics; and Physics and Astronomy departments as well as Science and Mathematics education foci in the College of Science.
