GIS Analysts are responsible for designing, implementing, supporting and administering all aspects of a department's and/or division's enterprise geographic information system. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Nevada Division of State Lands (NDSL) GIS Analyst II position is responsible for maintenance of the agency's GIS and associated spatial data. Much of the position's work includes verifying and mapping legal descriptions and documentation that represent interests or uses of lands managed by the state. In addition, the position is NDSL's first point of contact for spatial data questions and requests from state agencies and the public. Daily workload fluctuates: Some days the position assists with a land question in southern Nevada while the next day helps to visually display coverage changes on properties in the Tahoe basin. Further responsibilities include assisting Land Agents with performing inspections of State-owned lands and documenting the environmental conditions in the agency's document storage vault.
The position requires familiarity with the Public Land Survey System (PLSS) and different data sources available to map legal descriptions. Experience with the parcel datasets of Nevada's counties is a plus.
State Lands is a dynamic, smaller division filled with great people. If this position sounds like a good fit for you, please apply! We would love to talk to you. To see full Class Specifications visit: http://hr.nv.gov/Resources/ClassSpecs/06/6_0a-Engineering//
