This position is in Carson City with the Business and Industry Division of Insurance, Corporate & Financial Affairs section (C&F). C&F is responsible for the following as pertaining to insurers: company licensing, financial statement analysis, holding company analysis, collateral management, financial examinations, receivership processes, strategic planning, new product/program implementation, and maintenance of corporate records. This position reports to the Chief Insurance Examiner who is responsible for all activities of the section.
This Assistant Chief Insurance Examiner is primarily responsible for establishing and updating policies and procedures for the analysis team, performing reviews of priority insurers, and supervising the review of in-depth and challenging analysis of all domestic insurers and other insurance related entities in accordance with Nevada statute and regulation, C&F policies and procedures, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) risk-focused financial analysis handbook, and accreditation standards. The Assistant Chief Insurance Examiner directly supervises one Management Analyst III position, three Insurance Examiner I positions, and one Insurance Examiner II position and additionally is the indirect supervisor for one Management Analyst I position and two Management Analyst II positions. The ideal candidate will have experience supervising regulatory financial examinations and be familiar with Statutory Accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam
- Certification as a Certified Financial Examiner (CFE) issued by the Society of Financial Examiners and one year of experience supervising financial and market conduct examinations.
- The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
- The Assistant Chief Insurance Examiner requires certification as a Certified Financial Examiner (CFE) by the Society of Financial Examiners at the time of application and as a condition of continuing employment.
- A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of application and as a condition of continuing employment.
