The Training Ship Golden Bear (TSGB) summer cruises serve as a seagoing training and educational experience for the students at Cal Maritime and several other maritime academies as part of their preparation for entering maritime related careers. About the California State University Maritime Academy: Established in 1929, California State University Maritime Academy, a campus of the California State University, is the only degree-granting maritime academy on the West Coast. Located on the scenic Vallejo waterfront, the campus serves a student population of approximately 1000 undergraduates and 50 graduate students. Cal Maritime offers seven baccalaureate degrees in Business Administration, International Strategy and Security, Facilities Engineering Technology, Marine Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Marine Transportation, and Oceanography. The undergraduate curriculum includes licensing programs for future merchant marine, coast guard, and naval reserve officers. Cal Maritime also offers a Master of Science in Transportation and Engineering Management degree, as well as a number of extended learning programs and courses. Major Responsibilities : The sick bay team typically consists of a physician, an FNP or PA, and a counselor. Having previous ER or urgent care experience and an enjoyment of life at sea are both beneficial. Duties for the position include a scheduled workday of approx. 8am-5pm, and occasional after hours care for treatment of injuries or illness. The physician and NP/PA staff the sick bay and provide basic medical care for a crew of approximately 350 students, staff, and faculty. Other duties include routine student physicals. Position Summary Under the direction of the Head Volleyball Coach, the 2nd Assistant Volleyball Coach will support and enhance the mission of the San Diego State University Athletic Department. The Coaching Assistant will be responsible for assisting in the direction of the Women’s Volleyball program, performing a variety of coaching functions related to the sport of volleyball in the Athletic Department. These coaching functions include, but are not limited to the following: recruiting, administration, coaching, teaching, staging, and fundraising. PURPOSE : Under the general supervision of the Assistant Athletics Director, Sports Administration, the Head Athletic Trainer is responsible for the development, organization, and administration of the CSUMB sports medicine program, including providing work direction to other athletic trainers. When injuries occur, the Head Athletic Trainer serves as the first responder by recognizing and evaluating the injuries, and subsequently developing treatment and rehabilitation programs, incorporating the appropriate therapeutic modalities and use of rehabilitation and exercise equipment. Due to the nature of the work, the incumbent must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays, as required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following : Provide expertise in athletic training services for CSUMB’s NCAA DII Intercollegiate Athletics program, including but not limited to baseball, basketball, cross-country, golf, softball, soccer, volleyball, track & field and water polo. Provide athletic training room, game and practice medical coverage of intercollegiate teams as needed.
