The County of Colusa is recruiting for a Public Health Assistant. This position will assist professional and technical staff in providing Public Health Program services to groups and individuals. Provides a wide variety of responsible and difficult clerical support for assigned programs within the Department of Health and Human Services.

A qualifications appraisal interview will be used to assess the candidate's knowledge, skills and training experience. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
Performs front desk reception activities; answers phone; responds to question and inquiries; provides information to the public and other agencies; receives and processes payment for services rendered; writes and provides receipt.
Performs administrative duties; files and maintains charts, records, letters, reports and other documents; gathers monthly statistics; contacts customers and patients; schedules classes and appointments; opens and distributes incoming mail; enters data into computer; prepares progress and summary reports.
Participates in the development and dissemination of educational materials appropriate to the assigned program.
Assist with planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating health education and prevention programs.
Maintains cooperative working relationships with other county department personnel, outside agencies and the public; assists with coordination of program activities with other department and agencies as appropriate.
Refers clients who need additional assistance to the appropriate department staff and community agencies or organizations; prepares the necessary referral documents; and confers with supervisor as needed.
Organizes, implements and serves as coordinator and liaison for specific health education programs, grants and activities within the county as assigned.
Participates in the preparation and administration of grants related to assigned programs.
Attends training sessions, meetings, and conferences as directed; assisting in the presentation of reports to committees and agencies as needed.
Perform general office duties as assigned.

CalPERS retirement plan, either 3 @ 60 for Classic, or 2 @ 62; deferred compensation plans available with monthly matching employer contributions; paid holiday, vacation and sick leave; Health Reimbursement Arrangement; paid health insurance, life insurance, dental insurance and vision insurance for employee. If employee elects not to enroll in County insurance and can provide proof of other group health insurance coverage, they may be eligible for a $300 monthly cash in-lieu benefit. This position is part of the Colusa County Employees Association (CCEA), Professional Unit.
