Description: Position Summary
The Department of Spanish and Portuguese has nine Tenured and Tenure-Track faculty members, 15 lecturers, 22 teaching associates, six graduate assistants, one Administrative Support Coordinator II and one Administrative Support Assistant II, as well as work study, student assistant, and tutor positions. The number of part-time faculty and teaching associates varies from semester to semester. This position is under the supervision of the Department Chair.
The Administrative Support Assistant II (ASA II) acts as liaison between Graduate Division evaluators and department Graduate Advisor. They will support the Graduate Advisor during the admissions process with the Cal State Apply site, transcripts, scores, and Interfolio access. The ASA II will serve as the department receptionist and will assist students, faculty, and the general public, speaking either English or Spanish as appropriate. In addition to assisting the Administrative Support Coordinator in maintaining and updating the department website, they will update and maintains the department's social media accounts. The ASA II assists the Administrative Support Coordinator in the preparation of correspondence regarding the Spanish Master's Program, the Translation Studies Program, and other routine correspondence.

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base) benefits eligible, permanent (probationary) position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. Education and Experience
Entry to this classification requires fundamental written and oral communication skills, including a sound foundation in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation; an ability to understand standard office procedures; an ability to operate standard office equipment; an ability to learn office technology systems; an ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations; and typing and keyboard skills.
These entry qualifications would normally be obtained through completion of a high school program or its equivalent and some experience in an office environment. Preferred Qualifications

Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $2,912 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $2,912 - $4,592 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.
