Description: Position Summary
The mission of the Information Technology Division is to develop the long-term infrastructure, services, and strategy necessary to support the University's mission of learning, discovery, and engagement. The IT Division has the stewardship responsibility for core IT assets on campus and the obligation to provide the services, training, and community building necessary to realize the benefits of those investments across the San Diego State University community.
Web Services and Infrastructure is responsible for the planning, development, implementation, and management of web services for San Diego State University. This position will play a key role in serving as an institutional leader in the planning, implementation, and ongoing improvement of web communications systems and processes developed by Web & Digital Communications.
Under the direction of the Interim Director of Web Services and Infrastructure, the Web Developer/Administrator administers, maintains, and supports the university's web infrastructure, including content management systems, hosting platforms, applications, databases and user documentation. This position designs and develops sites, pages, and templates, and contributes and occasionally leads web projects such as site migrations and custom application development. Additionally, this position serves as a resource for the university web community, contributing to campus web meetings and working groups on accessibility, usability, and standards.

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base) benefits eligible, permanent (probationary) position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. Education and Experience
To enter this classification, a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in applications programming and systems analysis and related programming support functions is a prerequisite. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science or business, or equivalent training and applied experience. Foundation knowledge and skills for the Analyst/Programmer, depending on the position assignment, may include working knowledge of a specific industry standard applications programming language and knowledge of standard systems analysis techniques. Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with enterprise education software applications and web-based applications in a development and technical support role.
- Experience with XML/XSL for developing web templates. Experience using Omni CMS is a plus.
- Experience with relational databases, such as MySQL and MS SQL Server.
- Experience in developing Web APIs and/or RESTful Web Services.
- Familiarity with deploying and managing cloud infrastructure and services, such as Azure and AWS.
- Familiarity with project management basics such as project planning, communication plans, deployment planning.
Compensation and Benefits
- Knowledge of WCAG 2.0 AA web accessibility standards, including the use of semantic HTML and ARIA.
- Knowledge of mobile-first and responsive design principles using front-end frameworks and grid systems
- Experience with implementing, configuring, administering, and supporting web content management systems.
- Experience with Apache, IIS, or nginx web servers.
- Ability to work effectively with people with differing levels of technical knowledge.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both oral and written).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Starting salary upon appointment not expected to exceed $7,500 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,372 - $10,792 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.
