Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is recruiting for Hospital Housekeeper-Extra Help* to fill full-time, temporary positions. Hospital Housekeepers sweep and mop rooms, halls, and stairways; strip, wax, and buff floors; vacuum and shampoo rugs and carpets; remove trash and dispose of biohazards and sharp materials; collects and moves medical waste; cleans and sanitizes surgery, burn and intensive care units using standard precautions; wipe down and disinfect patient care areas and furnishings including beds; and restock and clean restrooms using germicide solution.

Extra help positions are in the Unclassified Service which serve at the discretion of the appointing authority. These positions participate in the County's Part-time Seasonal Temporary (PST) Deferred Compensation Plan and do not earn any other benefits. Candidates selected for Extra-Help positions are not precluded from being considered for full-time positions and may remain on the list for full-time employment.

ARMC, which is owned and operated by the County of San Bernardino, is a state-of-the-art 456 bed university-affiliated, teaching medical center featuring the newest technology in the field of patient care. ARMC, is host to a 24-hour Emergency Department providing more than 90,000 annual visits, a Level II Trauma Center verified by the American College of Surgeons, a Regional Burn Center, Behavioral Health Services, Outpatient Specialty Clinics and five Primary Care Family Health Centers (FHC). The FHCs offer comprehensive primary care medical services to individuals and families of all age groups. The FHCs are staffed with experienced attending physicians and resident physicians from the Medical Center. ARMC is a Primary Stroke Center and has a Baby Friendly designation from Baby-Friendly USA with over 2800 births per year. The Neonatal Intensive Care is a 30 bed Community California Children's Services certified unit.


Background: Applicants selected for these positions must pass an extensive background investigation which includes fingerprinting and verification of employment history. Applicants who have been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony in the following areas may be denied employment: crimes of violence, domestic violence, drug related offenses, offenses of a sexual nature, and child abuse.

Work Schedule: Hospital Housekeeper- Extra Help applicants must be available to work all shifts; day, swing, night, rotating, holidays and weekends. Shift Differentials may apply.

Physical: This job may require frequent reaching, kneeling, lifting and carrying items weighing 10 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds and the ability to move 80 pound containers.

Environment: Working conditions involve exposure to chemicals, infectious materials, heat, and odors.

EXPERIENCE: No experience required.


SHIFT AVAILABILITY: Must be available to work ALL SHIFTS (DAY, SWING, NIGHT, ROTATING HOLIDAY and WEEKEND). Indicate availability on the Supplemental Questionnaire. You will not proceed further in the examination process if all shifts are not selected.
