In addition to performance-based merit increases, this position is scheduled to receive salary range increases on the following dates:
Effective July 1, 2022 - 3.5% increase
Salary may be negotiable within the range listed above, based on position requirements and successful candidate's qualifications, subject to appropriate authorization.ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION:
This recruitment will be open for a minimum of five business days and will remain open on a continuous basis until 11:59 p.m. (P.S.T.) on the day the County's needs are met.
- Board Certified Psychiatrists qualify for an additional $800 per month
- Five (5) days Continuing Medical Education paid leave per year.
- Educational and Professional Reimbursement of $10,000 per year

- P sychiatrist Loan Repayment Program ( Eligible participants would receive up to $22,500 after completion of every 1040 service hours (equals 6 months for full-time employees and 12 months for half-time employees) as long as funding remains available. The total award amount may be up to $225,000 but will not exceed the total of the participant's outstanding educational loan balance at the time of the participant's induction into the program .)

Behavioral Health Services provides a culturally competent and client-centered system of behavioral health services for all eligible county residents in need of treatment for mental health care. The Service Areas include:
- Children, Youth and Prevention Services
- Adult and Older Adult Services
Children, Youth and Prevention Services have four major focus areas:
- Regional outpatient clinics are located within five geographic areas throughout Orange County. The clinics are staffed by professionals in the fields of psychiatry, psychology, social work, family therapy, and nursing. Regional clinic staff serve children and adolescents who need mental health and substance use services due to challenges with disruptive behavior disorders, mood disorders, thought disorders, attentional disorders, anxiety disorders, sleep and eating disorders, adjustment or personality disorders, other severe emotional disorders, and family problems. Some regional clinics may also provide intensive community based recovery oriented services. Children who receive services under Short/Doyle Medi-Cal and who have been diverted from hospitalization or receive support services as part of the after-care plan developed during their hospitalization are also served in regional clinics.
- Crisis services are provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week, every day of the year. The Crisis Assessment Team works with children and families who are experiencing crises that may lead to psychiatric hospitalization. Team members assess youth, most frequently in emergency rooms, schools, and in the client's home with law enforcement support.
- Children & Youth Behavioral Health Services staff provides mental health and substance use services to a wide variety of youth involved with the Juvenile Court. Specific specialized programs serve the needs of youth placed at Orangewood Children and Family Center, Juvenile Hall, group homes, and foster homes. These programs specialize in field delivered behavioral health treatment services and intra and inter agency collaboration for youth who, in addition to other behavioral health difficulties, often present with an extensive history of trauma.
- Prevention and Intervention provides a variety of program services, with the majority funded by Mental Health Services Act Prevention and Early Intervention dollars. These Prevention and Early Intervention services are provided in the community at diverse locations including schools, Family Resource Centers, Youth Reporting Centers, shelters, transitional living centers and, participants' homes. Programs work with children, transitional age youth, and adults. These programs are highly family focused. Programs aim to prioritize under-served populations, remove barriers to accessing services early, eliminate/reduce the stigma and discrimination of receiving behavioral health diagnoses, and/or provide services at first onset.

In Children, Youth and Prevention Services there are a variety of direct client care opportunities to serve Orange County children, youth, transitional age youth, and their families impacted by mental illness and substance use disorders. Children, Youth and Prevention Services has four major areas of service: 1) Regional outpatient clinics (including intensive community based recovery oriented services), 2) Services delivered in the field to youth in the Juvenile Justice system, 3) 24/7 crisis services, and 4) Prevention and Intervention. All programs strive to provide high quality, evidence-based services in a system that addresses the specific and unique needs of the individual and their support systems. Those served by Children, Youth and Prevention Services come from a variety of cultures and diverse backgrounds. As a Psychiatrist, your role will include collaborating with a team of professionals both within the Health Care Agency, and with other County agencies with whom the programs partner to ensure comprehensive care is provided.

The ideal candidate will be American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology certified in child and adolescent psychiatry or have completed a two year fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry, have a calm and flexible demeanor, and be willing to work in a team setting. The candidate will also possess an ability to use an Electronic Health Record to monitor the individual's status, document medical services, enter orders for pharmaceuticals and laboratory studies, and determine and document medical necessity. Familiarity and ability to coordinate with other physicians providing medical care for the person is also crucial as we strive to provide safe and effective treatment with a holistic approach to one's health, which includes their physical well-being.
