The department is particularly interested in candidates with an educational background and experience in ethnic studies, literature, composition, education, child development, psychology, sociology, history, or science education, to teach the following courses: 1) Teacher track service courses (LIBS 304, ‘We Hold These Truths,’ LIBS 312, ‘Schools in American Society,’ LIBS 327, ‘Literacy, Language, and Pedagogy,’ LIBS 330, ‘The Child in Question,’ and LIBS 392, ‘Performing Arts for Children’). 2) Courses in the Hutchins General Education Program (LIBS 100, 101, 102, 103, 201, 202, and 204). We are particularly interested in instructors with experience teaching writing support, first year transition, and ethnic studies general education. 3) Courses on topics of science in society or science education (LIBS 320B core seminars). Included in this core area are courses that deal with science and technology and their relationship to individuals in society. Students build on their understanding of the sciences and social sciences and come to grips with crucial issues posed by our culture’s applications of science and technology.
