Works as a skilled crew member in the installation, replacement, repair, and maintenance of water distribution mains, lines, valves and hydrants. Repairs leaks and breaks in existing pressured mains. Participates in the restoration of work site locations and street surfaces. Responsible for backfill excavations, restores dirt work, seed or sods, sets up erosion control measures, tears down, and replaces fences. Replaces landscaping, utilizing proper techniques in minimizing damages to existing utilities. Assists in digging trenches and other excavations. Shores deep excavations. Follows all City policies concerning safety in the work place. Operates various types of motorized construction and maintenance equipment. Operates jackhammer in cutting and breaking concrete, asphalt or rock. Removes waste from work site. Drives dump truck for hauling construction material. Operates a front-end loader up to 2-1/2 cubic yards in loading pipe or other materials for construction and maintenance work.

Salary Range: $18.24-$29.44/hour
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Thursday, 5:00 P.M to 3:30 A.M, Friday-Monday, 7:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. or 4:00 P.M. to 2:30 A.M.

REQUIRES high school graduation and 4 years experience in water or sewer construction and maintenance work. Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies. Possession of a valid Class A or B CDL prior to the end of the employees probationary period. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination. Preference given to applicants with experience in making repairs to a water distribution system.
