The Position: Assistant/Associate Tenure-Track Professor (PhD or equivalent). The Department of Nutrition and Food Science is searching for a tenure-track position in Nutritional Science, with a focus on Nutritional Biochemistry/Human Nutrition, to start in August 2022. California State University, Chico is seeking faculty who are competent in their field, collaborative with colleagues and staff, and committed to student success. Position is contingent on funding.

Qualification Details: Minimum Qualifications The minimum educational requirement for appointment to this position is a terminal degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Nutritional Science or related area. Candidates nearing completion of the terminal degree may be considered; however, all requirements for conferral of the degree must be met no later than August 17, 2022.

Preferred Qualifications: Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) or eligible to sit for the RDN Exam, teaching experience, professional experience as a clinical dietitian, bilingual.

Responsibilities: This tenure-track position carries responsibilities in the areas of teaching (undergraduate courses in human nutrition for majors and general education and/or graduate courses in advanced macro and micro nutrients and nutritional genomics)), scholarship (dissemination, grants, etc.), and service (student advising, etc.). Teaching assignments are based upon qualifications of the individual and the needs of the department.

The Department: The Department of Nutrition and Food Science ( ) in the College of Natural Sciences ( ) includes nine full-time faculty, about 30 graduate students, and 160 undergraduate majors and offers programs leading to a bachelor's and master's degree. Its' faculty represent a wide range of interests. Department programs are enhanced by laboratories for courses and research in foods, food science, nutrition, and community nutrition. Campus support services, such as a library, distance education facilities, and technology learning and support, are easily accessible. The successful candidate will be provided with research space (if needed), start-up research funds, and release time in the first year of appointment to help in the establishment of a research program.
