Recreation Leaders may work and receive training/assignments in any of the following areas:

- Youth Programs
- Aquatics Programs
- Facility Set-Up & Operations
- Special Events
- Senior (older adult) Programs

Selection Components:
Application Evaluation - Applications will be reviewed every Thursday . Qualified applicants will be invited to a virtual interview.Virtual Interview - Passing applicants will be placed on an eligibility list that may be used to fill future Recreation Leader vacancies as they occur in any of the assignment areas throughout the Department.

The individuals selected for these positions will need to be available to work a varied schedule during the workweek, including nights and weekends depending on assignment.

Recreation Leader P/T Job Specification
Experience & Education and License/Certificate
A combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience : One year of experience in customer service, community service, childcare, babysitting, working with seniors, coaching or playing a sport, and/or volunteer work in a related field or equivalent.

Age : Must be 16 years of age as of June 1, 2021.

License : Due to the performance of some field duties which require the operation of a personal or City vehicle, a valid and appropriate California driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required.

Certificate : CPR and First Aid certificates must be obtained within six (6) months of hire.
