COMMUNICATION COORDINATOR

Salary Range: $4,104 - $7,425/Monthly

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Temporary one-year appointment from date of hire; may be extended; may become permanent; exempt classification.

Essential Functions: Under the general direction of the Senior Director, this position is responsible for planning, creating, developing, preparing, and delivering key communications from the Office of Admissions and Recruitment to students, parents, external schools, and other community and campus audiences. The incumbent is responsible for developing and designing attractive and effective written and graphic/visual content, and working across a number of platforms, including webpages, graphics, client relationship management systems, social media and other communication/marketing mediums, to support the University's recruitment, admission and enrollment initiatives and goals. The incumbent will also develop promotional and other marketing materials in support of recruitment events such as EagleFest, Preview Day, Black Excellence, and other recruitment events. The Communications Coordinator will engage College Communications Specialists on campus and work closely with the University's Public Relations team.

Required Qualifications & Experience: Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in communications or a related field and four years of experience in communications or public relations required. The incumbent must have significant experience in writing, editing, and proofreading copy to produce standard communications for targeted internal and external audiences; in developing and maintaining relationships with relevant internal and external constituents in order to facilitate the delivery of relevant, timely, accurate, and positive information to the public about the university and its programs; in the ongoing management of communication materials on a large organizational website; and in developing social media recruitment plans for targeted audiences. The incumbent must have demonstrated knowledge of word processing, desktop publishing, web design software packages, client relationship management systems and social media platforms; and of current higher education organizations and current issues. The incumbent must have excellent written and verbal communication skills with a solid foundation in composing various communication materials. The incumbent must have the demonstrated ability to collaborate with designers, and others on the theme, design and content of print, electronic, and web-based publications to maximize impact; develop and maintain communication plans for targeted audiences; develop and maintain strong, positive, and productive relationships within the university and with the broader community; identify and appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information; follow all University policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures; contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assists in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence". The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment.
