Department Summary

Facilities Planning & Management is here to provide, maintain, and enhance the campus community in support of the University's mission. Facilities Planning & Management consists of two divisions whose combined scope encompasses all aspects of Facilities at California State University, San Bernardino: Facilities Management and Facilities Planning, Design & Construction.

Job Summary

The supervising plumber is primarily responsible for supervising and working with one or more groups or crews of skilled journey-level plumbers and their semi-skilled assistants in the performance of campus plumbing work.

Responsibilities include:
  • Plumbing Shop Supervision
  • Communication with Campus Customers and Stakeholders
  • Project Management and Technical Support
  • Safety Oversight; Accident Prevention & Response
  • Plumbing Preventative Maintenance

Employment Status: This position is Full-time, Non-Exempt, and Probationary (with the possibility of converting to permanent).

First Review Date: This position will remain open until filled. The initial review of applications will begin on November 3, 2021 .

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, weekends and evenings may be required.

Key Qualifications

  • Must possess a more thorough knowledge of effective supervisory practices and techniques and a working knowledge of job design and work sequencing related to construction projects.
  • Knowledge of effective supervisory practices and techniques.
  • Knowledge of Journey-level plumbing knowledge of plumbing systems.
  • Knowledge of federal and state building, construction, and safety codes pertaining to the plumbing trade.

  • Must be able to plan and direct the work of skilled crafts workers and their semi-skilled assistants.
  • determine and coordinate staffing, material and equipment needs for multiple jobs and projects.
  • ensure accuracy and maintenance of assigned recordkeeping systems; and perform design work for plumbing systems.
  • Ability to plan and direct the plumbing work of skilled trades workers and their semi-skilled assistants.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Education and Experience
  • Two or more years of experience as a journey-level plumber and one to two years in a lead/supervisory capacity.


Anticipated Hiring Range: $6,375 - $6,500 per month

Classification Salary Range: $6,375 - $8,080 per month
