Description: Position Summary
The SDSU Imperial Valley (IV) is a separate campus located 120 miles east of the San Diego campus. SDSU IV is administered by the Dean of the Campus, the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, the Dean for Students, the Director for Business and Financial Services, the Director of Development & P3 Initiatives, and the Assistant Director of Facilities Services & Projects.
The Custodial department provides general cleaning and custodial care and support of assigned campus (Calexico and Brawley) buildings, facilities, structures and adjacent areas and/or portions thereof. The position reports to the Assistant Director of Facilities Services & Projects at SDSU IV.
Under the general direction of the Assistant Director of Facilities Services & Projects, the Custodian is responsible for providing general cleaning and custodial care and support of assigned campus buildings, facilities, SDSU auxiliary buildings/areas, and structures including but not limited to, campus offices, classrooms, art rooms, auditorium, patios, entryways and walkways. Custodial staff may work independently or as part of a custodial team maintaining the campus facilities in a sanitary condition. Perform minor maintenance, clean and care for classrooms, offices, laboratories, rest rooms, common areas (hallways, lobbies), library, auditorium, gallery, student union, in support of the academic function.

This recruitment will be used to establish a pool of candidates for current and future, full/part-time, temporary appointments. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Work schedule to be arranged.
The individual hired into this role will work on-campus at SDSU-IV in Imperial Valley. Education and Experience
Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position; follow verbal and written instructions to ensure safety; operate and care for custodial equipment and supplies applicable to the position; use custodial systems such as those used to track work orders and two-way radios for communication; observe safety requirements and safe work practices and methods as required; perform work involving regular physical activity; and establish and maintain cooperative work relationships. Ability to move up to 50 pounds. Licenses and/or Certifications Required
Valid CA driver's license. Preferred Qualifications
- Possession of a high school diploma
- Two years of experience in working in custodial
- Experience in working in an academic setting or public sector.
- Knowledge of safety practices with cleaning supplies and chemicals.
- Knowledge of PPE.

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department's fiscal resources.
CSU Classification Salary Range (Full-time Equivalent): $3,120 - $4,196 per month ($18.00 - $24.21 per hour). SDSU COVID-19 Vaccine Policy
In accordance with the California State University systemwide policy, students, faculty, and staff must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or provide a valid medical or religious exemption in order to access campus. Individuals are considered fully vaccinated for five months after their final dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine or for two months after receiving the only dose of a single-dose vaccine. Afterward a COVID-19 booster is required to continue to be considered fully vaccinated.
The individual hired into this role will be required to submit their completed vaccination documentation to the university's secure online health portal prior to beginning work.
