Gonzalez, (512) 389-4703 PHYSICAL WORK ADDRESS: Design Project Management Branch, TPWD HQ, 4200 Smith School Rd, Austin, TX,78744 GENERAL DESCRIPTION : Under the direction of the Design/Project Management Branch Manager the Plan Reviewer performs highly complex (senior-level) engineering work and is responsible for reviewing facility plans, specifications and work order proposals of construction documents prepared by professional Architects and Engineers for Statewide Capital Construction (including alternative contract methods such as Design Build, Construction Manager @ Risk, Job Order Contract) and minor repair projects. Responsible for reviewing construction contract documents for compliance with applicable codes, including but not limited to: NEC, ICC, NFPA 1 Fire Code, NFPA 101 Life Safety Code, Texas Accessibility Code, Fair Housing Act, and TCEQ Regulations. May provide, as needed, opinions about constructability, materials, phasing, TPWD design standards, and maintenance of equipment. This role primarily reviews plans and specifications for the following project types: Headquarters/Visitor Centers, Residential (Single Family and Lodging), Maintenance/Storage Buildings, Hatcheries, Water/Wastewater plants/distribution, site improvements (fishing piers, boardwalks), Restroom buildings, Utility Projects, and Conservation Education Buildings to evaluate for compliance with state, and federal laws and regulations. This position will review architectural drawings, engineering drawings, mechanical, electrical and plumbing drawings, civil drawings and specifications as required. Some discretion is involved in applying codes and standards to particular circumstances, but decisions are generally limited by established precedents. Administrative direction is received from the Design/Project Manager Branch Manager; while work is performed free of direct supervision, it is reviewed through reports and occasional spot checks. This position may provide advice to DPMs to prepare Requests for Work Order Proposal for TPWD blanket trades (MEP) and leading code review of new codes for TPWD adoption. If the candidate is internal from Infrastructure, Remote work will be available. The plan reviewer does not replace or exempt the A/E of their QC process but will be expected to assist DPMs with coordination to make sure TPWD comments are addressed. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Performs additional duties as assigned. Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Education : Graduation from High School or GED. Experience : Five years active experience in multi-disciplined plan review; Five years construction or inspection work experience. Licensure : Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid class "C" Texas driver's license. Must possess or be able to obtain within one year of hire, an ICC Building Plans Examiner Certification. NOTE: Retention of position contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required license and certification. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : Experience : Five years' experience in reviewing plans and specifications for residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure construction projects. Licensure : Certified ICC Residential Plans Examiner; Certified ICC Plans Examiner in multiple trades including MEP's.
