Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is recruiting for Hospital Housekeeper Trainees* who perform a variety of hospital custodial duties in an acute care hospital setting removing trash and disposing of biohazards and sharp materials; cleaning and sanitizing surgery, burn, and intensive care units using standard precautions; wiping down and disinfecting patient care areas and furnishings including beds; and restocking and cleaning restrooms using germicidal solutions.

ARMC, which is owned and operated by the County of San Bernardino, is a state-of-the-art 456 bed university-affiliated, teaching medical center featuring the newest technology in the field of patient care. ARMC, is host to a 24-hour Emergency Department providing more than 90,000 annual visits, a Level II Trauma Center verified by the American College of Surgeons, a Regional Burn Center, Behavioral Health Services, Outpatient Specialty Clinics and five Primary Care Family Health Centers (FHC). The FHCs offer comprehensive primary care medical services to individuals and families of all age groups. The FHCs are staffed with experienced attending physicians and resident physicians from the Medical Center. ARMC is a Primary Stroke Center and has a Baby Friendly designation from Baby-Friendly USA with over 2800 births per year. The Neonatal Intensive Care is a 30 bed Community California Children's Services certified unit.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Background: Applicants selected for these positions must pass an extensive background investigation which includes fingerprinting and verification of employment history. Applicants who have been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony in the following areas may be denied employment: crimes of violence, domestic violence, drug related offenses, offenses of a sexual nature, and child abuse.
Work Schedule: Hospital Custodian Trainee applicants must be available to work all shifts; day, swing, night, rotating, holidays and weekends. Shift differentials may apply.
Physical: This job may require frequent reaching, kneeling, lifting and carrying items weighing ten (10) pounds, occasionally up to fifty (50) pounds and the ability to move eighty (80) pound containers.
Environment: Working conditions involve exposure to chemicals, infectious materials, heat and odors.
Promotion: Hospital Housekeeper Trainees are eligible for promotion to Hospital Housekeeper I upon meeting a successful completion of a six (6) month trainee period or be terminated.
EXPERIENCE: No experience required.
SHIFT AVAILABILITY: Must be available to work ALL SHIFTS (DAY, SWING, NIGHT, ROTATING HOLIDAY and WEEKEND). Indicate availability on the Supplemental Questionnaire. You will not proceed further in the examination process if all shifts are not selected.
