Position Summary

Under the direction of the Lead Custodian and area manager(s) the incumbent performs cleaning maintenance assignments in various University buildings and external spaces.

FLSA: Non-Exempt

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,120 - $4,196 per month

Hiring Range : $3120 - $3120 per month. Initial appointment not anticipated to exceed $3120 per month unless required by MOU or policy.

Recruitment Type: Regular (probationary)

Time Base: Full-Time

Pay Plan: 12 month

Work Hours: Three work schedules are available. Schedule will be assigned by management at time of hire.

1) SUN 1:00PM - 9:30PM; MON - THUR, 4:00PM - 12:30AM

2) TUE - FRI, 4:00PM - 12:30AM, SAT 1:00PM - 9:30PM

3) Monday - Friday, 4:00pm - 12:32am

Facilities Management is the steward for the University buildings, infrastructure, grounds and landscape. We perform maintenance and renovation to facilities; plan and manage new building construction; support the Redefine the Possible initiative through our commitment to building a welcoming campus and by creating a dynamic physical environment for students, faculty, staff, and the community. Minimum Qualifications:

Abilities:

Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position; follow verbal and written instructions to ensure safety; operate and care for custodial equipment and supplies applicable to the position; use custodial systems such as those used to track work orders and two-way radios for communication; observe safety requirements and safe work practices and methods as required; perform work involving regular physical activity; and establish and maintain cooperative work relationships. Some positions may require ability to move up to 50 pounds.

Required Qualifications:

Knowledge/Abilities:
  1. Knowledge of common custodial procedures and methods
  2. Knowledge of safe cleaning practices
  3. Ability to provide excellent customer service
  4. Good interpersonal skills to maintain effective working relationships
  5. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a diverse environment.

Work Schedule Requirements:
  1. Ability to work irregular work shifts, including weekends and holidays

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to maintain physical condition necessary for occasional lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds)

License Requirements:
  • Possession of a valid California driver's license and maintenance of a good driving record.

Conditions of Employment:
  • Ability to pass a background check


Preferred Qualifications:

Related janitorial/custodial experience working in a higher education, school district, or other institutional environment.

Required Licenses/Certifications:

7. Valid California Driver's License and maintenance of safe driving record required.
