NURSE PRACTITIONER
Health Center

Salary Range: $5690 - $10,979/Monthly

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Thursday, 8:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., every other Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; non-exempt classification.

Essential Functions: Under the general direction of the SHC Director and the Lead Physician and within the Nurse Practitioner's established scope of practice, performs a wide range of primary health care services, such as conducting physical examinations, diagnosing, treating, and managing illnesses and injuries, ordering tests and interpreting results, and educating patients on preventive care and a variety of health issues.

Required Qualifications & Experience: Academic degree or certificate from an approved college or university-based Nurse Practitioner program or equivalent training and experience as outlined by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN). Incumbents must be clinically competent in a medical specialty applicable to their position and possess sufficient experience to independently perform the duties of a Nurse Practitioner within that specialty. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent customer service skills. Possess and maintain a valid California license as a Registered Nurse and a BRN certificate evidencing that the individual is qualified to use the title of Nurse Practitioner, as required by the California Board of Registered Nursing. In addition, if the incumbent is delegated the authority to furnish medications, the incumbent must possess and maintain a valid BRN Furnishing Certificate. If the furnishing procedures include the delegated authority to furnish specific controlled substances, incumbents must also possess and maintain a valid DEA number and certificate. A current Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support/AED. Demonstrated interest and ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position.

Desired Qualifications: Master's degree or higher in Nursing, Biology, Public Health, or similar health-related field. Certification in family practice or women's health. Three years working as a licensed NP in a family practice or college health setting. Experience working as an NP in women's health.
