The Department of Interdisciplinary Studies in Liberal Arts in the College of Liberal Arts at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, is seeking a full-time lecturer. This position will be a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal to a second year. Duties and responsibilities include teaching introductory interdisciplinary studies courses, courses on the interactions between science, technology and society, and media studies courses as well as other courses as needed. The teaching load is 3-4 four-unit courses per quarter, with 45 units total across the academic year. An A.B.D. or Ph. D. in an interdisciplinary field and a successful teaching record are required. Teaching experience with science, technology and society or media and society courses preferred. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

A.B.D. or Ph.D. in an interdisciplinary field and a successful teaching record are required. Demonstrated experience and commitment to student-centered learning and teaching, as well as the ability to collaboratively work in multidisciplinary settings is required. Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language is required.

Interdisciplinary Studies in the Liberal Arts (ISLA) offers interdisciplinary classes to support a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies as well as four interdisciplinary minors: Ethics, Public Policy, Science & Technology; Gender, Race, Culture, Science & Technology; Media Arts, Society & Technology; and Science and Risk Communication. Many ISLA courses satisfy university general education and breadth requirements.
