Salary: $17.16 - $23.34 Hourly USD
The principal duties of this position are performed in an outdoor environment with potential personal hazards.
This is a temporary position (30 hours per week) and no benefits are associated with it. The individual selected for this position will work 22 pay periods during the year, with time off during a portion of the summer when school is not in session.

Duties and Responsibilities
Duties include: providing training for school crossing officers in areas such as safety, policies and procedures, and problem solving; investigating complaints and maintaining documentation; monitoring performance of crossing officers and addressing performance issues; communicating with the public and school officials on crossing issues; keeping supervisor and designated others informed concerning present and potential problems and providing suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing problems; attending meetings and training sessions to remain current on the principles, practices and new developments in assigned work areas; responding to citizens' concerns and questions in a courteous and timely manner; performing the duties of a crossing officer if needed; preparing and presenting accurate reports; and assisting the supervisor in the hiring process as well as payroll preparation.
Minimum education: high school diploma or GED.
Minimum qualification: U.S. citizen with three years related experience, with two years as a School Crossing Officer and one year supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work. Knowledge of traffic laws is required. A valid SC driver's license or the ability to obtain one upon acceptance of the position is required. NCIC certification or ability to gain certification within six months of employment is required. Must be able to type, operate a personal computer, and use two-way radios. Certified typing test of 30 cwpm must be submitted. Applicants meeting the minimum criteria must submit to and successfully complete all phases of the hiring process that consists of: the Nelson-Denny Vocabulary and Reading Examination, completion of an Applicant Questionnaire; a two-phase background investigation; a credit check; a polygraph examination, a psychological evaluation; an interview and a pre-employment physical examination which includes drug testing.
