Position Description

This position assists in the overall operation of the Unit Medication Room and distributes client's medications from filled prescriptions.

Major/Essential Functions

  • Administers medications and document as ordered. Adheres to facility policy and procedure of medication administration.
  • Performs support activities. Ensures drug room security, replaces facility medication, stocks and maintains the upkeep of drug room and pharmaceutical equipment. Returns outdated medication to the pharmacy and keeps log books updated. Generates print passes.
  • Reports Unusual occurrences (reactions, behaviors, refusals) to Registered Nurse.

Required Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited high school or GED equivalent and Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMT-P) with current credential from the Texas Department of State Health Services, OR Successful completion of a certified medication aide training course and passage of State exam.

Pay Statement

Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as, the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan on the Human Resources webpage.
