The Department of Housing and Residential Education (DHRE) at Cal State University San Bernardino promotes Each Student's Learning Experience by creating safe, supportive learning environments for academic and personal success. Job Summary

The incumbent will provide custodial and related services for the Department of Housing and Residential Education.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Daily: deep clean resident spaces in preparation for incoming occupants; clean and sanitize bathrooms, kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms; vacuum, sweep, mop floors .
  • Daily: clean and sanitize common areas including bathrooms, kitchens, lounges, study rooms etc.
  • Remove trash from offices, common areas, classrooms as scheduled
  • Restock paper products, soap/sanitizer dispensers as needed
  • Clean vents, laundry machines, appliances, furniture, equipment
  • Wipe baseboards, window sills, door handles, light switches as required
  • Inspect building conditions, report damages to work control
  • Coordinate with supervisor to maintain janitorial supplies and equipment

  • Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.

Employment Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt, Probationary with the possibility of converting to permanent.

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 4:00pm. Weekends and evenings may be required.

Key Qualifications
  • Applicants must have the ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position along with the ability to follow simple oral and written directions.
  • Applicants must have the ability to use and care for janitorial supplies and equipment.
  • Applicants must have the ability to work with a diverse group of people.
  • Duties may involve the use of a state vehicle which would necessitate possession of a valid California driver's license and the successful completion of the campus Defensive Driving examination.
  • A valid California Driver's License is a requirement for this position.

Physical Requirement
  • Must be able to lift, lower, push, and pull loads ranging in weight from 5-60 lbs.; must be able to carry loads ranging from 20-50 lbs. for distances up to 20 feet; must be capable of kneeling, reaching overhead, climbing stairs and ladders, walking, twisting, stooping, and bending; depending upon the project, employee may spend 20-50% of day sitting, 20-50% of day standing, 20-50% of day walking.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in a Residential Life setting is preferred.


Anticipated Hiring Range: $3,120 per month

Classification Salary Range: $3,120 - $4,196 per month
