The Department of Theatre at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2022 to teach the Theatre for Social Change (TA300) lecture and lab. This class is designed to demonstrate how theatre can be used to address social issues and will use real-life issues (one relevant to our community) as a base. Students will do substantial research on a chosen topic/issue and then use that information to write and perform a play. Candidates should be a theatre artist who is experienced in working with diverse student populations. Minimum qualifications:
- MA in Dramatic Art/Literature, Performance Studies, Theatre, or a closely related field
- Per the California State University's Out-of-State Employment Policy, the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California. Working in the State of California is a condition of employment
Salary commensurate with degree level and experience Application:
- PhD or MFA in Dramatic Art/Literature, Performance Studies, Theatre, or a closely related field
- A specialty in African, Asian, Indigenous American, African American, Asian American, or LatinX theatre.
- Experience teaching in higher education
- Preference will be given to applicants with a demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and/or intercultural competence with diverse groups in relation to teaching.
