Under the general direction of the Dean of the College of Agriculture, and in coordination with University Advancement, this position is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and executing a comprehensive external relations plan that advances the mission of the College. These responsibilities include public relations, publications, community outreach, and coordination of fundraising and friend-raising events. This position operates with a high degree of autonomy in carrying out these responsibilities and must possess the knowledge of methods and techniques of effective program management and supervision. The scope of duties are varied and multifaceted and requires travel, evening, and weekend time commitments. Mandatory Vaccinations:

Required Education and Experience:
Excellent knowledge of California's Agriculture Industry.
At least three years' experience on event planning (event production, from conception, and implementation, to final analysis).
Excellent skills on communications and public relations (identify, develop, write, and edit a broad range of print and electronically based communication materials.
Experience with media relations and community engagement campaign fund-raising or development.
Experience working for an institution of higher education or nonprofit organization.
Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution, or equivalent educational experience, in public relations, events management, or a major related to the duties, knowledge, skills, and abilities of this position. Knowledge of Ag. Industry with focus on California's Agriculture.AND
Two years of full-time experience in public relations, journalism, or event coordination. Time Base:

Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm, Summer - Mon-Thurs 7:00-5:30. Salary and Benefits Information:
Salary commensurate with background and experience of the individual selected. (Anticipated hiring range: $63,000 - $68,000 per year).

This position is a Higher Education Employer-Employee Relations Act (HEERA) designated managerial position and comes under the Management Personnel Plan (MPP) of the California State University. Individuals appointed to management positions serve at the pleasure of the President or designee. They are excluded from the collective bargaining process, are not subject to probationary service, and do not receive tenure or permanent status. This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
The duties of this position will include participation in a decision that may have a material/financial benefit to the incumbent.
