The Job The Sheriff's Department, Coroner Division, is recruiting for a Supervising Deputy Coroner Investigator II who will supervise Supervising Deputy Coroner Investigators, coordinate complex and/or long-term field investigations, monitor investigator training needs, and develop training plans. Additional Compensation: Supervisory Coroner P.O.S.T. certification receives an additional $3.95/hour. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT 1) Positions are located throughout the County; work location may change to meet the needs of the department. 2) Shift work maybe required; must be available to work various shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call/standby as needed to meet the needs of the division. 3 ) Must pass a background investigation including fingerprint/DOJ, polygraph and psychological evaluation. 4) Must possess physical agility and strength due to the nature of the work, as the ability to move bodies and other heavy objects may be required. 5) License: A valid California Class C driver license is required at time of appointment; employees in this class may be required to show proof of automobile liability insurance. 6) Sponsorship: Please note San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future. Minimum Requirements Certificate: Possession of current CA P.O.S.T. Basic Death Investigations, Module A and Module B certifications. --AND-- Experience: Two (2) years of full-time equivalent experience supervising death investigators in a California Sheriff-Coroner, Coroner, or Medical Examiner organization. Experience equivalent to a Supervising Deputy Coroner Investigator I with San Bernardino County. Desired Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a CA POST Supervisor Certificate, ABMDI certification, Incident Command System (ICS) 100-400 training, strong leaderships skills, and extensive experience supervising death investigations staff.
