Do you want to take part in our democracy? Do you enjoy public service? Be a part of our nationally recognized elections team! We have several temporary assignments that may last anywhere from 2 - 12 weeks.

We are seeking temporary staff to join us in conducting elections in 2022 in Contra Costa County where we have more than 700,000 registered voters and a population of 1.1 million. You will typically be responsible for one or more of the following tasks:
  • data entry, including entering voter registration applications, verifying voter signatures, and updating voter information in a database
  • assisting in recruiting volunteers to work at the polls on Election Day
  • assisting in the assembly of polling place supplies and testing voting equipment in a warehouse environment
  • supporting mail processing operations
  • overseeing and supporting volunteers in the processing of Vote-by-Mail ballot extraction
  • providing in-person and phone customer service
  • leading a Regional Early Voting location that offers voters the opportunity to vote in-person before Election Day
  • retrieving and securing ballots from Vote-by-Mail drop boxes located throughout the County
  • assisting with conducting poll worker training and giving instruction in a group setting
  • assisting with pre-press layout, design, and proofing of materials including the Voter Information Guide
  • reviewing and proofreading voting materials in English, Spanish, or Chinese
  • assisting in ballot processing activities

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Possession of a high school diploma, G.E.D. equivalency, or high school proficiency certificate.

Other: Some assignments may require the candidate to drive a county vehicle or their own personal vehicle.

Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience performing data entry tasks
  • Experience providing customer service in person and/or on the phone
  • Fluency in Spanish or Chinese

Selection Process

CONVICTION HISTORY

After you receive a conditional job offer, you will be fingerprinted, and your fingerprints will be sent to the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The resulting report of your conviction history (if any) will be used to determine whether the nature of your conviction conflicts with the specific duties and responsibilities of the job for which you have received a conditional job offer. If a conflict exists, you will be asked to present any evidence of rehabilitation that may mitigate the conflict, except when federal or state regulations bar employment in specific circumstances. DISASTER SERVICE WORKER
