DESCRIPTION The Economic Development Department’s workforce bureau, Pacific Gateway Workforce Innovation Network (“Pacific Gateway”), is recruiting for one at-will, unclassified, full-time Community Program Specialist II. The Program Specialist will establish and maintain relationships with service providers and liaise with program stakeholders, clients, businesses, and/or others collaborating with Pacific Gateway, including organizations that primarily focus on working with individuals that are single parents, English Language Learners, and recipients of public assistance benefits, as well as, people who are or were in foster care, probation, low-income, do not have a high school diploma, or are out-of-school. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Draws on lived experience to create an environment in which jobseekers are motivated and inspired to engage in employment and education programs. Verifies general customer eligibility for services funded by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and identifies service priority for individualized career services. Develops and implements industry-specific Individual Employment Plans (IEPs) in partnership with participants to guide the next steps and manage progress toward goals. Document progress through case notes via management information systems such as CalJobs Monitors and ensures effective program performance. In partnership with the Employment & Training Coordinator, develops Individual Training Accounts (ITA’s) based on customers' training interest in in-demand occupations. Ensures people are equipped with the basic employment interpersonal skills necessary to participate in training and find and retain employment successfully.
