Job Description
The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Registered Nurse in the Public Health Division within the Health and Human Services Department. There are currently full-time, part-time and extra-help opportunities available. Under general direction, the Registered Nurse promotes general health in the community through education and outreach; performs a range of nursing tasks such as specimen collection and processing; administering medication/injections, diagnostic skin tests and immunizations; completes appropriate paperwork such as logs, reports, and forms; coordinates the patient's medical care with private physicians, public facilities and other health centers; reviews laboratory results; assists in monitoring quality assurance, infection control and safety activities; participates in COVID-19 response activities including testing and other activities; administration of general nursing care, including general health screenings; provision of quality nursing care to both adult and pediatric patients in a variety of settings in conjunction with or under the direction of the Public Health Officer. This is the entry level in the nursing series. This position may be assigned to various Public Health Programs.

The Social Determinants of Health and the 10 Essential Public Health Services heavily influence our programs and initiatives. This may look like applying fluoride varnish to a child, helping a new mother learn how to breastfeed, assisting a father who is worried about his one year old child's developmental status and managing a caseload of medically fragile children, children in foster care or developing programs to assist the community achieve wellness.
