The Job The Department Public Health (DPH) is recruiting for Supervising Environmental Health Specialists who plan, supervise, and coordinate the activities of a group of environmental specialists, as well as technical and clerical personnel engaged in a specialized Environmental Health Services (EHS) program, such as Food Protection, Recreational Health, Insect and Rodent Vector Control, Water and Wastewater, and Waste Management. Positions may be assigned to district offices located in San Bernardino, Hesperia, or Rancho Cucamonga. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Work Assignment: Applicants must indicate willingness to accept work assignments in all of the following areas: Rancho Cucamonga, Hesperia, and San Bernardino in order to be eligible for these positions. Work Schedule: May be required to work some evenings, weekends, and on-call. Physical: May be required to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, or hike, when necessary, during the investigation process. SPECIAL SKILL QUALIFICATIONS (WHEN SPECIFIED ON THE APPLICATION): Persons who have special skills required by some (but not all) positions in a class may be certified ahead of others provided that: Such special skills are based on the duties and requirements of the positions and are in conformance with merit system and equal opportunity principles, and The certification of eligibles who possess special skills have been approved by the Civil Service Commission. PRE-EMPLOYMENT MEDICAL EXAMINATION & DRUG TESTING: The County of Sacramento is committed to maintaining a drug and alcohol free workplace.
