Position Description

This position is located at High Desert State Prison (HDSP), in Indian Springs, Nevada. This is an open competitive recruitment; opened to all qualified applicants. This is a full-time, unclassified position, that is appointed by and serves at the discretion of the Medical Director, Nevada Department of Corrections, (NDOC). Under the administrative direction of the Medical Director, the incumbent establishes and administers a comprehensive institutional dental health program; including the clinical performance of professional activities in the administration of individual treatments to dental problems and issues affecting the institutional population.

The maximum annual salary for this position is $157,425, under the Employee-Employer Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), plan. The Employer-only PERS plan has a maximum annual salary of $137,037.

Minimum Qualifications

A valid license to practice dentistry from the Nevada State Board of Dental Examiners and either: 1) certification as a diplomat by the American Board of Periodontology or Endodontics; or a fellowship or mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD); or three years of professional dentistry experience in a correctional or comparable setting.
