Position Description
Licensed Professional Engineers provide professional services involving the application of engineering principles and data, or activities in connection with public or private utilities, structures, buildings, machines, equipment or projects impacting the public welfare or the safeguarding of life, health or property.
The Professional Engineer position is located in the Bureau of Water Pollution Control within the Permitting Branch. Primary duties include writing permits for surface water & groundwater discharges, working in waters, and temporary discharge permits in conformance with the federal Clean Water Act and state statutes and regulations (NAC 445A). Permit writers evaluate permit applications and water sampling data to determine potential pollutants, compare with established water quality standards and conduct analysis to determine final effluent limits and monitoring and sampling requirements.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

Special Requirements
