Job Description

POSITION EXPECTATIONS
The expectation of this position is to ensure the timely execution of tasks associated with the plumbing shop and the overall maintenance of the facility, support of plumbing remodels and Capital and small projects. The plumbers make positive contributions to the comfort of fellow ambassadors throughout the facility as well as the customer experience to the building's visitors.

CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPECTATIONS
This expectation of this position is delivery of the best customer service to internal and external customers through reactive and proactive assistance to ensure the clients comfort and needs have been met.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs installation, maintenance and repairs at the journeyman level to the following operating systems: water, natural gas, compressed air, waste and fire-sprinkler system lines. Perform plumbing work in underground vaults, tanks, manholes, pits, silos, and pipelines.

PURPOSE: Maintain continuous operation of existing and new plumbing systems.

• Troubleshoots and performs fixed maintenance on restroom fixtures, e.g. urinals, commodes, lavatories, auto flush valves, automatic faucet sets, drinking fountains and water heaters.

PURPOSE: To maintain, install and troubleshoot existing and new plumbing systems.

• Retrieves daily assignments, collects data and notates work-related data such as labor hours, materials, equipment utilized, and PPE worn for inclusion in the CMMS (Maximo). Reports any follow-up work needed into Maximo.

PURPOSE: Aids the organization in the tracking of pertinent data for checking and maintaining equipment and meeting safety standards to prevent malfunction and critical failures in the future.

• Operates plumbing equipment: pipe threading machine, grooving machines, sewer drain cleaning, sewer line cameras and sewer jetter machines to install new systems, make repairs and diagnose plumbing problems.

PURPOSE: Provide skills needed to maintain plumbing assets of the LVCVA.

• Reads and interprets building drawings and schematics pertaining to the plumbing trade to diagnose problems or perform installations.

PURPOSE: Provide skills needed perform repairs and troubleshoot based on areas of the building involved.

• Maintains considerable knowledge of current UPC (Uniform Plumbing Code), rules, regulations, applications, and requirements to ensure safe practices.

• Plans, organizes, layouts, and completes a project from start to finish, with minimal supervision.

• Prepares and maintains accurate records, files and reports and detailed instructions of plumbing maintenance performed.

PURPOSE: Aid the engineering department in the tracking of pertinent data for checking and maintaining equipment.

• In coordinated effort with the Water Reclamation District, conducts annual inspection of all grease traps.

PURPOSE: Prevent clogged plumbing and/or sewer systems which negatively impacts the plumbing in the surrounding community.

• Performs annual inspection of backflow preventers throughout the facility including the food service provider areas. Tests certifies and repairs all defective plumbing.

PURPOSE: Provide potable water protections to the fire prevention systems for the ability to fight fires.

• Performs quarterly salt removal treatments to urinals.

PURPOSE: Ensure urinal drains performance.

• Adheres to the correct protocol in the performance of assigned work by taking the appropriate precautions prior to initiating, during, and at the completion of tasks, wearing the designated PPE, and advising of any irregularities. Attends weekly and monthly safety meetings

PURPOSE: Ensure cognizant and prudent in the performance of work in adherence to the safety-first working conditions as established by the LVCVA engineering standards.

EDUCATION AND SKILLS
  • High School Diploma or GED, related certifications preferred
  • Trained and classified at the journeyman level
  • Minimum three years' related plumbing experience
  • Journeyman card & backflow preventer certificate desirable
  • Considerable knowledge of tools, equipment, and machinery used on the job for plumbing installation and troubleshooting
  • Proficient in operating threading and sewer machines
  • Proficient in soldering, oxy acetylene cutting torches; able to operate grooving machine to groove copper pipe to install Victaulic fittings
  • Ability to operate an aerial lift at heights in excess of 50 feet
  • Strength to lift and maneuver materials and equipment weighing up to 100 pounds
  • Effectively communicate job knowledge both orally and in writing within the department, with other departments, trades, management and outside contractors
  • Ability to comprehend and work from building drawings and/or schematics to diagnose, repair and maintain plumbing
  • Working knowledge of safe work methods and practices
  • Working knowledge of use and care of tools and equipment
  • Basic knowledge of computer and software skills with Microsoft Office Suite and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) required, experience with Maximo preferred


CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS

Must have a valid Nevada driver's license at time of appointment and must maintain during course of employment.

Ability to obtain an OSHA certification to operate forklifts, aerial lifts, scissor lifts, and other vehicles in the department

The individual must have the mobility to work in a typical engineering setting, e.g. in and around office buildings, commercial facilities, and/or exterior grounds that house electrical equipment and wiring, HVAC equipment, and plumbing fixtures including hot, cramped spaces such as electrical and mechanical equipment rooms. He/she must be able to walk, stand, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, balance and crawl, have dexterity of hands and feet. Must be able to move/lift up to 100 pounds. Must be able to distinguish color, size, shape and temperature; work in high, precarious places and in all climates. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE).

The individual must have the ability to use standard office equipment, including a computer; ability to read and distinguish color on printed materials and a computer screen; ability to hear ability to communicate in person, over the telephone and radio. Must be able to drive vehicle to various work locations.
