The Equipment Operator II responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: • Inspects vehicles for required supplies, materials and equipment. • Transports materials. • Cleans and services vehicles and equipment as assigned. • Operates heavy equipment. • Maintains a safe and clean work site. • Repairs and maintains facilities, structures and equipment. • May perform a series of manual activities, to include mowing, pouring concrete, asphalt, spraying, etc. • May occasionally supervises crews. • May assists in preparing reports and forms. WORKING CONDITIONS The position requires stooping, bending and/or lifting of items of up to 30 pounds with occasional periods of walking on rough surfaces. There are routine exposures to significant levels of heat, cold, moisture and air pollution. The position may involve periodic exposure to chemical substances and physical trauma of a minor nature such as cuts, bruises and minor burns. Requires the ability to make closely coordinated eye/hand movements within very fine tolerance and/or calibration demands; or the ability to make rapid closely coordinated eye/hand movements on a patterned response space within somewhat fine tolerance demands; or the ability to make coordinated eye/hand movements within fine tolerances with large equipment as an extension of the worker. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to read, write, add, subtract and follow oral and/or basic written instructions as might normally be acquired through 9 to 11 years of formal schooling. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS One year of experience in the operation of plant or automotive equipment and attachments is required. LICENSE REQUIREMENTS Must have valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and comply with the City of Houston's policy on driving.
