College: Arts and Letters Position Title: Part-time Temporary Lecturer in Theatre and Dance Department of Theatre and Dance Instructional Faculty - Part-time Temporary/Lecturer Pool Position Details: The Theatre and Dance Department in the College of Arts & Letters at Cal State LA, is seeking applications for a pool of part-time faculty lecturers with positions available as determined by need during the 2024-2025 academic year. Minimum Qualifications: Candidate must have an appropriate degree from an accredited university (bachelor’s degree and substantial teaching experience for lower division courses; master’s degree for upper division undergraduate courses; doctoral degree, or master’s degree and substantial teaching experience for graduate courses). Demonstrated excellence in teaching at a college level. Applicants should have the ability to relate well to others within the academic environment and demonstrate ability and/or interest in working in a multiethnic, multicultural environment. Demonstrated experience and commitment to student-centered learning and teaching. Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language is required. Each of the Department’s four areas - the Theatre Arts major concentrations in Acting, Technical Theatre, and Theatre Studies, as well as the Dance major - offers a broad base of study, drawing from diverse techniques and styles to provide a launchpad for students considering continuing fine arts graduate studies, a performing arts career, arts education, or other fields that value creative leadership, ingenuity, critical-thinking, collaborative problem-solving and global perspectives. The Department of Film and Theatre has three (3) Majors: 1) Radio-Television-Film, 2) Theatre Arts, and 3) Dance, which prepare students for careers as actors, dancers, performers, educators, directors, scriptwriters, producers, designers, technicians, managers, and scholarly/critical writers. We offer training and experience in radio, television, film, theatre production, and dance, as well as courses in the history, scholarship, and aesthetics of these media. The department creates short and feature films through Spartan Film Studios, a full season of stage productions, and other faculty, staff, and student production projects. Students can participate in the department’s full-time radio station, KSJS 90.5, which provides entertainment, sports, and community service to the Bay Area.
