Job Description and Duties
The Department of State Hospitals-Napa is accepting applications for a permanent, full-time Personnel Supervisor I. Per CalHR this position is eligible for an annual payment of $2,400, payable upon meeting the designated criteria as stated in Pay Differential 240 .The Personnel Supervisor I supervises a small group of Personnel Specialists in the performance of personnel transactions work (i.e., benefits, pay, attendance, personnel documents processing and related personnel transaction functions) and carries a roster of employees (processing payroll, appointments, separations, and other personnel related functions). The Personnel Supervisor I will serve as back up to the Personnel Supervisor II providing information on Personnel procedures and salary determinations; serves as resource person to supervisors and managers regarding control agency rules and regulations; and prepares Management reports and responses to audits from Department of State Hospitals - Sacramento and/or other State agencies.

Department Information
Founded in 1875, Napa State Hospital is the only state hospital in Northern California for persons struggling with severe mental illness. Classified as a low to moderate security facility, the hospital has a bed capacity to treat up to 1,362 patients on an attractive campus with treatment units located on 138 acres. Staff is dedicated and committed to delivering high quality, cost-effective, professional services and specialized programs in an environment that promotes continuous improvements in treatment for individuals with mental disabilities.
All Hospital Locations:
Effective March 1, 2022, in accordance with CDPH State Public Health Order of December 22, 2021, hospital workforce members currently eligible for booster doses must have received their booster dose.
- If you are fully vaccinated, you must provide evidence of vaccination prior to your start date.
- If you are not fully vaccinated, you have the option to receive a vaccine from one of the State Hospitals prior to your start date.
- If you are not fully vaccinated and choose to complete a request for an exemption, you must submit this exemption and receive approval prior to your start date.
- If you are not yet eligible for a booster, you must be in compliance no later than 15 days after the recommended timeframe for receiving the booster dose.

One year of experience in the California state service performing the duties of a Personnel Specialist, Range D, Senior Personnel Specialist, or Personnel Services Supervisor I.
