SENIOR MAINTENANCE AIDE (SEASONAL) - SONOMA MENDOCINO COAST DISTRICT / AUSTIN CREEK STATE RECREATION AREA

Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKS program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKS recipient in the comments area on the application. Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKS eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub. This position reports to the District Road and Trail Chief and works under the direction of the Trail Crew Lead Worker. The Senior Maintenance Aide (Seasonal) performs unskilled maintenance and construction work; maintains and operates light vehicles; and assists permanent maintenance workers in skilled tasks at various park facilities.

The Senior Maintenance Aide assists permanent staff in the maintenance, construction, and rehabilitation of trails and trail features including trail tread, bridges, retaining walls, and drainage features. Assists permanent staff as needed with maintenance of natural resources including tree felling, bucking, and chipping; stream enhancement, vegetations management, and prescribed burning.

Operates, maintains, and cleans a variety of equipment; chainsaws, augers, rigging equipment, and cordless tools. Operates a variety of vehicles, trucks, electric vehicles, and ROVs. Cleans and properly stores assigned equipment. Keep work areas and vehicles clean and in safe operating condition. Attend staff meetings and trainings and prepare administrative paperwork to meet operational needs and provide customer service.

Working Conditions

Typical Working Conditions:

Working outdoors and under adverse weather conditions. Driving to assigned beach and park locations. Ability to bend, stoop, lift, sit/stand for long periods of time, and lift 50lbs. Walking long distances on uneven surfaces.
