Patient Services Specialist - Ob/Gyn Lbk Lubbock 37256BR Position Description This position is responsible for assuring smooth operation of the clinic patient flow. Employees serve as primary contacts for patients and are responsible for scheduling appointments, preparing necessary paperwork before the patient visits, receiving patients, and maintaining records. In addition, this position is responsible for processing charges for clinic services, filing insurance claims, responding to requests for information from patients and insurance companies and maintaining related information for the department. Employees may have cash handling responsibilities. Major/Essential Functions Greet all patients as they arrive to the clinic and certifies that all patient information is updated and correct. Acquires and scans appropriate paperwork at check in including: consent to treat, confidential communication form, financial agreements, insurance information, identification and any other relevant paperwork. Follows appropriate procedures for checking patients out of the clinic by scheduling follow up appointments appropriately, following system check out and assisting patients with any other needs. Answers incoming phone calls, certifies that all patient information is updated and correct and handles the needs of the caller appropriately. Handles payment transactions and completes necessary batch closing and deposit documentation every day. Handles patient messages delegated from the message pool, triage nurse, physicians, or supervisor including messages from the after hours service. Coordinates referral appointments from other clinics, agencies, and private physicians. Maintains knowledge of all visit types, physician names and scheduling guidelines in order to schedule appropriately. CLASS CHARACTERISTICS The EMS Specialist is a professional, non-safety position responsible for supporting and ensuring that the highest level of emergency care services are delivered by the District. The EMS Specialist will utilize a team/oriented approach to develop and maintain the skills, knowledge, and abilities of EMS personnel in a practical and appropriate manner. This person must also possess the ability to assist with EMS quality improvement, risk evaluation and overall EMS operational initiatives and duties. This is an exempt, non-represented and non-safety position. EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The following duties are typical for this classification. Position Summary Under the direction of the Student Health Services Administrative Manager, the Referrals Coordinator will be responsible for processing all new patient referrals initiated from Student Health Services providers. This includes, but is not limited to coordinating appointments for patients, ensuring clinical documentation is complete and received for and from the referring provider, initiating health plan enrollment, establishing and maintaining relationships with specialists and imaging services, and developing systematic methods to address, improve and coordinate services to completion for our students. Position Summary Under the direction of the Student Health Services Administrative Manager, the Referrals Coordinator will be responsible for processing all new patient referrals initiated from Student Health Services providers. This includes, but is not limited to coordinating appointments for patients, ensuring clinical documentation is complete and received for and from the referring provider, initiating health plan enrollment, establishing and maintaining relationships with specialists and imaging services, and developing systematic methods to address, improve and coordinate services to completion for our students. Coordinate the implementation of enterprise-wide EDIA initiatives under the guidance of the EDIA director. Employee Engagement Leads the development and implementation of facility-wide strategic direction and initiatives to improve employee engagement and achieve organization’s mission. Manages workforce engagement survey process and data and works with hospital leaders to utilize information to identify and implement initiatives to increase staff engagement and satisfaction. Oversees development and implementation of facility Wellness programs. Develops processes to facilitate recruitment of staff that is consistent with the organization’s brand, values/culture, and objectives and supports EDIA goals of equity, diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism in the workplace. Partners with labor partners to develop internal communications that keep employees informed of campus activities. Directs workforce recognition and rewards program to acknowledge people who demonstrate through their actions the values of the organization and its mission and goals. Serves as a liaison to the DHS workforce development and experience team coordinates enterprise-wide EDIA initiatives. Community Engagement Plans, directs, and coordinates the activities of community engagement and community communication programs. Establishes mechanisms for ongoing community engagement (e.g., town halls) to inform community of medical center initiatives and to obtain ongoing feedback and input on community priorities. Identifies and builds rapport with community groups and organizations regarding education and training opportunities, contracts and purchasing, accessibility of services. Public Relations Develops, implements, and maintains communication plan to spread information about organization’s goals and achievements. Requirements SPECIALTY REQUIREMENTS: Four (4) years of experience in a highly responsible staff capacity* analyzing, evaluating, coordinating, making recommendations, and implementing programs in the areas of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Anti-racism (EDIA) for a healthcare organization, one year of which must have included supervisory experience at the level of Los Angeles County's class of Senior Staff Analyst, Health** or higher. *Highly responsible staff capacity in the County of Los Angeles is defined as: staff experience at the senior level with extensive knowledge of program related, processes and procedures, and experience in a specific subject matter. **Experience at the level of Senior Staff Analyst, Health Services within the Los Angeles County is defined as : Supervises a team of analysts providing technical and consultative service to management in major health service areas. LICENSE: A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
