One position is in Airside Operations and two positions are in Airport Parking & Ground Transportation Services. Under general supervision, the incumbent performs work involving a variety of airport operations duties related to compliance, enforcement and customer service related functions essential to the 24hr operation of an international airport. The classification’s scope of work includes airfield, airside and landside operations in support of airside inspections, gate management, terminal operations, parking and ground transportation, general aviation, aircraft basing, aviation security, ID badge/access control programs, as well as other airside and landside functions. This classification may be required to rotate between various assignments in the areas referenced above. Examples of Duties TYPICAL TASKS/DUTIES Any one position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the examples cover all the duties which may be performed by the incumbent in each airport department. OPERATIONS Performs inspection, administrative, training and communications duties. Performs airside and landside inspections and related duties under the general supervision of the Airport Duty Manager; initiates corrective action for non-compliant issues; and applies applicable local/State/federal regulations to airfield and security related duties. As necessary to ensure the continuity of operations and/or ensure the safety and security of the Airport, may perform duties of the Specialist I position. Responds to medical calls and issues throughout the Airport campus. Coordinates activities related to airport emergencies with Airport Operations Supervisor and/or other airport staff; follows established procedures in emergency situations, notifying law enforcement or other appropriate personnel. May assign, monitor, and review the work of Airport Operations Specialist I staff; provide input to Airport Operations Supervisors during the performance evaluation process of Airport Operations Specialist I staff. Provides input into the development of goals, standards and work procedures for the unit; identifies, recommends and provides training to staff in work procedures and related equipment. Assists staff with airfield, terminal, landside, and security functions and projects; may support EOC functions. Provides Airport Duty Manager with information from gate management system and performs gate changes in the system. Oversees and executes certain programs related to airport operations, including, but not limited to wildlife management, safety awareness, safety enforcement, ground transportation management and enforcement, and tenant outreach. Performs and may provide lead direction over AOS I staff who assist with inspections and enforcement of Airport ground transportation/parking operations rules and regulations; provides input in the formal performance evaluations for the AOS I staff. May conduct vehicle inspections of taxi cabs, limousines and other ground transportation operators for mechanical and safety conditions, and regulatory compliance. Facilitates and coordinates placement of all portable restrooms as needed. Facilitates and coordinates signage for terminals, roadways, curbsides and parking lots with appropriate department heads and signage vendors. Leads vehicle inspections activities of taxicabs, limousines, door-to-door shuttles and airport buses for mechanical condition and regulatory compliance. Answers inquiries and customer complaints from the public regarding ground transportation, parking lot operations, parking regulations and traffic concerns and citations. Issues citations in accordance with City of Oakland traffic codes and ordinances throughout the airport, including parking lots. Sells or distributes ground transportation-related medium, materials, and permits. Updates and purges computerized ground transportation files, airport parking files and automatic vehicle identification (AVI) system data as needed. Position Summary Under the general supervision of the School Director, the Equipment Technician will perform preventive maintenance, repair, assembly or fabrication, and installation of the School’s equipment in specialized facilities that support creative practice in ceramics, furniture design and woodworking, jewelry and metalwork, book arts and printmaking, drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, graphic design, interior architecture, and multimedia. The Equipment Technician will collaborate with members of the School on the proper use of tools, equipment, and materials; inventory, order, pick-up, and stock supplies and equipment parts; and maintain a safe and healthy working and learning environment. The Equipment Technician will serve as the School of Art and Design’s safety monitor and Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) liaison. These roles entail oversight of the School’s safety forms, information gathering for Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) compliance reports, and support of faculty and staff to develop and enforce safety procedures. The Equipment Technician will cooperate with EH&S regarding general safety practices, such as procedures for hazardous waste disposal and chemical spill treatment. Position Summary Under the general supervision of the School Director, the Equipment Technician will perform preventive maintenance, repair, assembly or fabrication, and installation of the School’s equipment in specialized facilities that support creative practice in ceramics, furniture design and woodworking, jewelry and metalwork, book arts and printmaking, drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, graphic design, interior architecture, and multimedia. The Equipment Technician will collaborate with members of the School on the proper use of tools, equipment, and materials; inventory, order, pick-up, and stock supplies and equipment parts; and maintain a safe and healthy working and learning environment. The Equipment Technician will serve as the School of Art and Design’s safety monitor and Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) liaison. These roles entail oversight of the School’s safety forms, information gathering for Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) compliance reports, and support of faculty and staff to develop and enforce safety procedures. These vacancies can be filled at the I or II level. DEFINITION Under direct supervision, performs maintenance and repairs on mechanical equipment used in wastewater treatment, collection, storm, and water distribution systems; and performs other duties as assigned. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS The Water Resources Mechanic I performs a range of tasks requiring journey level mechanical ability and aptitude. Work assignments are performed according to established rules and procedures. Independent judgment is required and is supported at regular intervals by supervisory review and direction. This classification is distinguished from the Water Resources Mechanic II in that the latter classification possesses advanced journey level mechanical ability and aptitude and is responsible for the higher technical problem solving issues. SUPERVISION RECEIVED Direct supervision is provided by the assigned Water Resources Coordinator. Work assignments and direction may also be received from the Public Works Supervisor. Examples of Important and Essential Functions Maintenance Functions Repairs and maintains mechanical and electrical equipment such as pumps, motors, compressors, piping, boilers, HVAC systems, mechanical drives, blowers, collectors, belt filter presses, chemical feed systems, valves, filtration devices, and other related treatment equipment; repairs and maintains water resources facilities including the treatment plant, sewer lift stations, storm lift stations, facility buildings, grounds/landscaping, and underground infrastructure; performs welding; fabricates parts; paints equipment; and maintains a clean shop, work area, tools, and organized inventory. Administrative Functions Maintains accurate up-to-date records; researches prices and submits request for materials; ensures contract compliance; uses computers to perform spreadsheet and specialized functions; and may provide direction to temporary employees. Experience, Education, and Training Guidelines: Any combination of experience, education and training that would provide the best qualified candidates. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be: Experience : Three years of experience performing mechanical repairs on pumps, motors, gearboxes, plumbing, and mechanical equipment commonly found in a wastewater treatment plant or related industry. Education : Equivalent to graduation from high school, supplemented by training in equipment maintenance and repair and other related specialty course work. Training : Any recent training, such as academic courses or certification programs which are relevant to this job classification. License : Possession of a valid California Class C Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record as determined by the City.
