Duties Description Under the supervision of higher-level managers and the Park Administrative team, the Maintenance Supervisor 1 supervises programs and operations within Denny Farrell Riverbank State Park in the Maintenance Department. The incumbent will be a working supervisor involved in all aspects of maintaining and repairing park buildings, utility systems and grounds. Typical assignments include but are not limited to: • Supervises and coordinates the activities of a variety of permanent and seasonal skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled staff engaging in a broad range of park maintenance and repair work, which may include skilled trades work, as well as housekeeping and groundskeeping functions at Denny Farrell Riverbank State Park or the filter plant within the park. • Plans and lays out work, assigns staff, provides instruction and assistance, coordinates among work teams, actively supervises and inspects work in progress and upon completion. • Prepares written reports in response to specific assignments, work orders and other assignments as needed. • Leads the staff by emphasizing health and safety guidelines, modeling and enforcing all Agency policies, providing training and orientation of new staff, and formally evaluating the performance of all staff under their supervision. • Coordinates with higher level management staff as directed to assure that priority needs for maintenance and repair are promptly identified and addressed in a manner which avoids disruption of park operations to the greatest extent feasible. • Determines needs for purchasing materials, equipment, and supplementary contractor services for required maintenance and repair of buildings, mechanical systems, fixed equipment, and grounds. • Completes necessary purchasing requests and prepares and/or compiles any required supporting documentation. • Evaluates park facilities for energy conservation and sustainability of operations. • Sets standards and assigns tasks based on the daily operational needs of the park. • May also serve as shift supervisor in another complex by supervising programs and operations as needed. • Carries out other related duties and responsibilities as assigned. Additional Comments OPERATING NEEDS: • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment. • This position is 40 hours per week. Evening, weekend, and holiday work is required. • Must be well versed in local building codes, reading diagrams, and understanding building plans as well as performing grounds maintenance. • Must be well organized and have excellent oral and written communication skills. • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. • Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply. • May be required to report to other facilities throughout the New York City region on an as-needed basis. Job Summary Under general supervision of the University Housing Maintenance Manager, the Facilities Maintenance Mechanic is a skilled generalist, performing at a journey-level in one trade with strong skills in other trades. The Facilities Maintenance Mechanic works within the Facilities Operations Department of FMD which is responsible for providing quality maintenance and minor repair and renovation •services that meet or exceed our customers' expectations.
