This position will work under the general supervision of the State Park Superintendent II. The incumbent is responsible for providing Public Safety at the Hungry Valley Sector within the Great Basin District. This position reports directly to the Assistant Chief Ranger and, in his/her absence, may act on his/her behalf. This position is responsible for a portion of the Visitor Services program within the Hungry Valley Sector. This position works in conjunction with another SPPOS to supervise State Park Peace Officers, assist with the Special Event program, coordinate the Lifeguard/EMR program and supervise seasonal Park Aids. The incumbent shall be familiar with protocol, procedures, polices and regulations pertaining to the California State Parks. The incumbent is responsible for public protection and law enforcement, interpretation, emergency medical services, and resource protection. This position may also be required to provide coverage to other locations or events throughout the District. This position may also be required to assist the Off Highway Motor Vehicle Division with special assignments throughout California, based on operational need. THE POSITION The Department of Public Works, Parking Services Division, is seeking Parking Enforcement Officers. This position works independently to issue parking citations, responds to complaints and inquiries, performs investigations and field work involving the enforcement of appropriate codes, laws, and regulations with an attention to public safety. This position will require reporting to work on weekends, holidays and evening shifts, at times in inclement weather conditions. DEFINITION To perform office, investigative and field work involving the enforcement of appropriate codes, laws, regulations and validation programs pertaining to on-street and off-street parking within the City of Sacramento. Writes and issues parking citations, responds to complaints and inquiries. This is a non peace-officer classification that does not carry a firearm or weapon. SPECIAL NOTE : all parking enforcement vehicles will be outfitted with global positioning devices. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED General supervision is provided by a Parking Enforcement Supervisor or higher level supervisory/management staff in the Department of Transportation. This classification does not directly supervise, but may train other staff if necessary. Job Summary Under the direction of the Cashiering Supervisor, this position provides support for cashiering operations including payroll, posting/counting/balancing monies, preparing bank deposits, sale of student and guest parking, maintenance and collection of parking permit machines, audits of satellite cashiering operations, and other back-office functions utilizing the PeopleSoft Student Administration System, CASHNet POS system, T2 parking, and OTRS systems. The position also provides customer service to students, faculty, staff, and university departments analyzing student accounts, processing payments and deposits and payment agreements, all in accordance with university policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities Provides Cashiering Operations Support functions - Post payments, balance monies, and prepare deposits along with respective reconciliations and reporting utilizing CASHNet (POS System), PeopleSoft Student Financials, and the T2 Parking System. Input daily Student payments and departmental deposits. Balance all types of payments including student payments, parking permits, citations, patron/event receipts, departmental deposits, and parking machine sales. Provides in-person Customer Service - Answers a broad range of questions, analyzes students accounts, and processes transactions using available systems (PeopleSoft and Cashnet), both front-line and over the phone, with efficiency, integrity, and quality. Provides in-person customer service at the main cashiering windows. Analyzes student accounts on the student financial system using general knowledge of State and University policies and procedures and basic accounting knowledge.
