The Placer County Sheriff’s Office’s new state-of-the-art Coroner’s facility spans 20,000 square feet. It includes an 1,800 square foot autopsy complex with five autopsy stations along with an observance deck for Sheriff’s Office staff. We understand the amount of stress and grief family members exhibit when losing their loved one. The new facility features a dedicated family meeting space. The best-qualified candidates will have graduated from an accredited Forensic Pathology Fellowship Program. To be eligible for hire as a Forensic Pathologist - Board Eligible it is required that the applicant have training in the specialty of forensic pathology and is qualified to take the examination to obtain Board Certification in Forensic Pathology. To be eligible for hire as a Forensic Pathologist - Board Certified possession of Board Certification in Forensic Pathology is required.

This position is unclassified and, as such, serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Forensic Pathologist - Board Eligible: training in the specialty of forensic pathology and qualified to take the examination to obtain Board Certification in Forensic Pathology.

Forensic Pathologist - Board Certified: Possession of Board Certification in Forensic Pathology.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT

Prior to the date of hire, applicants must undergo a fingerprint test by the Department of Justice, pass a medical examination (which may include a drug screening and possibly a psychological evaluation), sign a constitutional oath, and submit proof of U.S. citizenship or legal right to remain and work in the U.S. For some positions, applicants may also be required to submit proof of age, undergo a background investigation (which may include a voice stress analysis and/or a polygraph), and/or be bonded. Additionally, positions in law enforcement classifications and those supporting law enforcement functions will be required to complete a conviction history questionnaire prior to or during the interview process. Applicants for positions with access to Medi-Cal billing software or who are licensed providers must clear the Federal Exclusion List, credentialing, and social security verification. Failure to clear these requirements may result in an employment offer being withdrawn.
