This position will be located at 1730 East Elm Street, Jefferson City, MO; Monday-Friday 8:00 am -5:00 pm.
  • Ensure citizens and regulated entities comply with solid waste management law and regulations.
  • Assist citizens and regulated entities with compliance solutions.
  • Develop waste management objectives and goals for staff and regulated entities.
  • Apply consistent enforcement actions when applicable.
  • Communicate regularly with State intra-agency and interagency team members, and U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) staff.
  • Oversee specific work plan/inspection activities.
To be successful in this position, a candidate will need the following skills:
  • Environmental Science : Knowledge of concepts, principles, theories, and methods to protect and improve the quality of the environment and its resources.
  • Technical Credibility : Understands and appropriately applies principles, procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies.
  • Accountability : Holds self and other accountable for measurable high-quality, timely, and effective results.
  • Oral and Written Communication : Express information to individuals or groups effectively and responds appropriately.
Equivalent to those typically gained by:
  • Bachelor's Degree in an environmental, or closely related field, and 4-6 years of relevant experience noted in the minimum qualifications. (Additional education or experience may substitute for the required education or experience)
Training, certification, and/or education in continuous process improvement programs such as Lean Six Sigma as well as completion of Missouri Way, Leadership Academy, and similar programs is preferred.
