Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Business Continuity Unit (BCU) IT Supervisor II, the Information Technogloy Aassociate (ITA) performs at the journeyperson level, which includes business continuity and disaster recovery (DR) support for the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) systems and applications.

The ITA’s critical responsibility is to support the work of internal and external technologists, which include but is not limited to the BCU and the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) application analysts, developers, and database administrators. The incumbent works with the Technology Support Bureau (TSB) infrastructure staff to develop, investigate, and resolve enterprise networking, file sharing, data storage, or data processing solutions and issues related to business continuity and DR efforts. The collaborators include both state staff and consultants. The incumbent will participate in the coordination of recovery strategies that meet the DOJ’s business needs. As part of the duties, the incumbent will provide support for the Section and Unit management team that guide CJIS staff regarding the development and update of their DR procedures. The ITA is responsible for working with the DOJ systems analysts and the BCU to update DR procedures and manuals.

These duties require the ITA to use initiative and independence, be reliable, and ensure work is completed in a timely manner. Interaction and contact with clients and staff require the ITA to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. The incumbent contributes toward the growth of the TSB into a customer-focused service organization. Additionally, the ITA will continuously improve communications and relationships with subordinates, peers, management, customers, and vendors.

Working Conditions

This position is eligible for telework up to 5 days a week, in accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. A teleworker is considered Remote-centered if they work fifty percent or more of their time from an alternate work location. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.
